ASHLEYS POV
The day has gone by incredibly slowly. I had a good lunch with my friends, but other than that the day has lacked a bit. Now I'm headed to the lazy period of the day, math. I walked in to an almost empty class. Only a few kids were already in the class and the board read 'sit wherever!' I waited near the door of the class, hoping a familiar face would walk in. I scrolled through Instagram when my phone was lifted out of my hand. I looked up to see who grabbed it.
"Joey!" I laughed grabbing my phone out of the boys hands. We chatted for a few minutes, before Rylie and her minions walked in.
"Ew," she laughed, walking to her seat.
The all sat in a line, all sitting behind or in front of each other, not side to side. They all at the same time pulled out their phones, which all had a matching case. I started to laugh, causing Joey to as well.
"What's so funny?" We heard a voice from behind us
"Hey Amber" Joey said, motioning us all to take a seat.
I sat next to Amber, and Joey took the seat behind me. As we sat the bell rang, and no teacher walked in the room. The whole room was full of chatter and giggles when the teacher decided to walk in. I didn't turn around to look at the new teacher, because his voice was recognizable.
"Hello class, today we are going to have a clam day, it's just gonna be a get to know me day." He spoke. I felt my hands start to shake, knowing exactly who it was, Luke Hemmings.
Luke and I dated when I was 16, and when he was 20. The age difference was a bit strange at first but we fell in love, so it didn't bother us. We dated for a year, and he cheated on me the week before I was supposed to move to California, where I now live. We broke up the day I found out about it, making the move even more heartbreaking.
"First I need to take role," he spoke starting to call out names. My brain froze, I couldn't hear him or anything, and I let my hands cover my face.
"What in the hell is Ashley doing." I heard rylie whisper, it didn't phase me.
"Ashley Long," I heard him breathe out. I looked up and realized he was starting at me. My heart felt like it broke when I had to speak up.
"Here," I whispered, looking straight at the boy. He was wearing a button up top and a pair of khakis. He also adorned his face with a pair of black glasses.
He cleared his throat and continued to take attendance. My hands started to shake more and I felt my eyes start to water.
Luke Hemmings would be my teacher, all year.
I stood up out of my seat, leaving my backpack in my place, I turned around and headed out of the class. I headed someone else stand up to follow me out, but I didn't turn around to see them.
"Ash what's going on?" Amber said behind me, grabbing my arm. I motioned her to follow me, and we walked into the bathroom so I could let tears flow openly.
"He's my my," I started. I took a second to consider what I was doing, I couldn't tell Amber. I couldn't tell anyone.
"I feel really sick," I said, trying to make up an excuse.
"What?"
"I just feel like really sick, like I'm going to throw up, or pass out, or something." I mumbled over tears. I realized that this was the first time Amber was seeing me cry, so she must be a little weirded out. I started to heave sitting on the bathroom floor.
"I'll tell Mr. Hemmings that I brought you to the clinic because you feel sick. Just hang here until you calm down." She said giving me a small hug. I nodded not able to give her a small smile.
