As I walked into Phil's house, I was still rubbing my lips. The ones Austin had kissed. To say I was happy would be an understatement, but there was attachments to my bliss. I have to wait, which is something I've never been good at. Austin was out on hold and that bothered me, but it was supposed to be for the best. Or, that was what I was convincing myself.
"What are you so up about?" Anouk asked from the love seat. She was watching another TV series all in one setting, you could tell that much because the Wii was on and she had tissues beside her. Oh, typical Anouk.
"I guess I can kiss and tell." I joked, plopping myself beside her in the small love seat, making it to where I was basically on her lap. She squealed, urging for me to go on in full detail.
"Well, I went over to Austin's house." I explained. "At first, it was so awkward. We were both picking our battles so carefully and almost everything was off limits to say." I went on, setting the mood. "Then, we argued a bit before he admitted that he needed me. Of course, I told him I need him too, because that's the truth." I said, shuffling around so she would have enough room to squirm for the next part. "Then, he kissed me!" I squealed. "He kissed me! But, he also said he needed time to think, whatever that means. So, I got my kiss, now were distanced."
Anouk nodded, smiling up at me over my excitement over kissing the brown headed boy. Let's face it, who wouldn't be squealing over kissing Austin, the man of my complicated dreams?
"Are you sure this is safe?" Anouk asked. "You know like, emotionally? For the both of you."
"Of course." I said. "We both grew up. I think we can both handle it."
"Alright, just be careful." Anouk said. "And also, get off of me, I can't breathe." She admitted, pushing me off of the cramped love seat. I hit the ground with a thud, laughing and pulling her down with me. She screamed and tried to wiggle from my grasp, but I'm so much stronger than her, so she was practically useless.
It was in that moment that she flashed a smile. A real, genuine smile that lit up her eyes. Of course, her happiness lit up my eyes too. It's funny, laughing on the ground with her bestfriend brought on true happiness.
"Having fun?" Phil scoffed from the door, making it obvious that he didn't have a good day. Anouk's smile faded and she tensed up. Phil has always been a wonderful person. So why is he making Anouk feel this way?
Anouk got off of the floor and to the kitchen to put on dinner. The couple then started having a heated arguement, only in whispers for my sake. Anouk said something above a whisper, obviously getting angrier. It was then that Phil hit her, and I mean full fledged slapped her to the ground. I didn't hesitate to take action, pinning Phil to the kitchen counter and disabling all of his movements.
That's why Anouk was sad. He had drained the life out of her, ever so slowly without the intention of fucking her happiness up. If only he knew that she had so much potential, and that he took all of it away from her.
"Get off of me." Phil growled, alcohol reeking his breath. Never would I think that Phil would become an alcoholic. He thought self harming was bad, being an alcoholic is all the same. Wanting to feel numb. Just different addictions.
"You fucking hit her, you bastard." I spat, my grip on him getting tighter by the second. My obvious anger didn't stop Phil trying to wiggle from under my grasp, but there is no way in hell I'm letting him go, not when I'm this pissed.
"Yeah? So what? She yelled at me." Phil reasoned. Yet, that was no excuse for him to lay his hands on a woman. Not at all.
"Anouk, leave. Go to your friends house. I'll meet you there." I told Anouk who was, by now, shedding tears. She nodded, running into her and Phil's shared room to pack a bag of her needed items.
"As for you, you're lucky I don't break you right now." I hissed, making Phil get somewhat scared. Lately, I've been finding this strength I was unaware of. And to be honest, it scared the hell out of me.
"Alan, what's gotten into you buddy?" Phil said, getting out of my hold since Anouk had left. "Where's my old BFF? Huh? The one that was paranoid all of the time? I miss that one. Made it easier to be a dick if you were too scared to do anything about it." Phil snarled.
"I'm leaving to go comfort your girlfriend. Bye." I snapped, getting my phone off of the counter.
But before I left, I happened to catch Phil's last comment.
"Run away faggot boy, you always do."
