The party consisted of various kinds of people. Some who came just for the food and alcohol, some genuinely came to bid Thor goodbye, while the others had no clue what the hell they were doing here. And, no, I couldn't guess all of this with my powers, I just read their facial expressions, and it was an open book to why they were actaully here. But what intrigued me the most was Nat and Bruce. The constant flirting between them made me build a new OTP. Their ship will be as grand as the Titanic.
After the people left the party, the Avengers, Rhodes, Dr. Cho, and Maria stayed back, and began their talking business. I had no other choice than to join them.
"Alex, come join us." Hill grinned at me, beckoning me to sit with her. Maria Hill was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, and I admired her. Steve told me that she was one of the most trusted agents Nick Fury had ever hired, and since the time S.H.I.E.L.D had collapsed, she contributed in helping them build it back up. No only was she a soldier, but also was she beautiful. She held grace in every move of hers (just like Nat) and she was also very, very humorous and that's why I loved her.
"Hey, Hill, looks like you're enjoying." I smiled back.
She rolled her eyes and crossed her legs, leaning back to the couch, sighing through her nose, "Well, I don't have any other choice. The things I have to deal with." She pointed her chin to the boys, who were laughing over something.
I turned my attention to them, as Clint spinned the chopstick on his hand, "But, it's a trick!!"
"No, no, it's much more than that." Thor says, giving a glass to Steve, who was grinning.
"Oh, who so ever shall be worthy shall haveth the power." He spread his hands towards the hammer lying on the table, as everybody laughed, "Oh, whatever, man it's a trick."
Thor laughed, "Please, be my guest."
And, suddenly, there was silence.
Everybody looked at Clint, who raised his eyebrows, "Really?"
"Yeah," Thor's laughter became less.
"Oh, this is gonna be beaut-." Clint muttered, as Tony interjected, "Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up."
Clint made his way around the table and stood infront of Thor's hammer, "You know, I've seen this before."
He wrapped his hand around the handle of the hammer and pulled it, then exasperated, "It's too tough- how do you do it?" He laughed, groaning.
Tony challenged, "Smell the silent judgment?"
"Please, Stark, by all means." Clint said.
Tony stood up, with that egotistical attitude of his, and makes his way to the hammer, while everybody else muttered, "Yeah, sure. Hmm..."
"Never want to shrink from an honest challenge." He said, with a ring of pride in it.
"It's physics," Dad explained, then suddenly said, "Right, so what if I lift it, I then rule Asgard?"
I rolled my eyes, what more does this man want?
"Yes, of course!" Thor grinned.
"I will be re-instituting Prima-Nocta." Stark said, then tugged at the hammer, lets go of it and said, "I'll be right back."
He left the room, and Nat muttered to me, "Seriously, your dad has issues."
"Tell me about it."
He returned wearing his metal gloves and I raised my eyebrow in surprise. Thor laughed and cried, "I cannot wait to see this."
Tony wrapped his metal glove around the handle of the hammer and pulled tightly, but amazingly failed. The next thing I know is Rhodey helping him, panting and saying, "Are you even pulling?"
