"Try and trace our steps." I ordered and turned around the prince did the same and we came up to a dead end. "Oh no." We turned and walked in a random direction.
"We are not to far from the edge I believe." Nick said from beside me. "We should be able to find our way out soon enough."
We turned a few more corners and came up to a dead end. I let out an exasperated breath. "Do you recognise anything?" I asked him.
"I do not." He said looking around.
"What if we-" I started.
"Look over the top of the bushes. You can not, they are very tall. You could stand on my shoulders and still not be able to see." He said explaining that my idea wouldn't work.
"What if we go through the bushes?" I asked. "Or climbed them?"
She shook his head. "Most of the bushes are placed around a wall and they are to thin to climb. It would snap holding to much weight." He told me.
"So what do you think we do?"
"Walk around trying to find our way out." He answered apologetically. "There is nothing else to do, my father made sure of that."
"We better hurry. It will soon be night and from my memories of this place it is cold during the dark times." I said looking towards where the sun was setting quickly. We walked more coming to mo dead ends and hopelessly searching of ran exit. The sun had gone down and it was now night.
We couldn't see any sign of an exit or lanterns from the castle. "How big is the maze?" I asked Nick.
"The maze is big. It goes a fair way around the castle and back towards the forest so we cannot get attacked from that side of the castle." He replied my heart sinking. I had stopped walking and was starting to shiver a little from the cold of the night. "Sit down." The prince told me.
"What! Why?" I asked holding my arms cursing myself for taking off my cloak when I had gone to my room after the meeting. Nick pushed me gently until I complied sitting on the hard ground. "What are you doing?" I asked as he took off his coat. He didn't answer me as he sat down beside me.
Where we were sitting I was leaning against the wall that had not had the green brush covering it. Nick draped his coat over me trying to cover as much of me as possible. "My guard would have notified other that we have not returned and they are already searching for us." He told me when j went to give him back his coat. He held it to me, "Stay here and they will find us soon enough." He said in a convincing tone.
When I stopped trying to give him back his coat he let out a breath relieved I had listened to him. He suddenly scooted closer to me and pulled me to him my face crashing into his chest. "What are you doing?" I said trying pull myself back but enjoying the warmth of his body.
"I am a naturally warm person so if we are closer together the warmer we will be." He reasoned still pulling me to his chest.
"Alright." I said giving in. I scooted closer to him and embraced his warm body. We moved so we were lying down more. I let my hands go in between us to warm up. I seemed to relax with his hold getting warmer as his body heat warmed me up. I soon stopped shivering and was quite warm with in the princes embrace.
"Are you still cold?" He asked me.
"No." He shifted how he was laying and held my hands in his.
"Your hands are still cold." He said looking at me.
"But the rest of me is warm." I told him. I was about to move when he did something completely unexpected. He blew his warm breath on my hands and I could feel them react to the warmth. He placed them over his chest and pulled me closer to him once more letting go of my hands with one of his while the other still held my hands to his chest.
