"But I don't want to go to the beach! You know I don't like it there. Too many people and the sand goes into all the wrong places and just no. I'm not going." Shinichi was adamant about his decision, so much in fact, that he didn't bother to play the game he usually did when Kaito wanted something. Usually he would try to manipulate Kaito into not doing something crazy by suggesting something that would both fit what Kaito wanted from the activity and what Shinichi would do - compromising. He didn't want to do that this time around, because he really wasn't feeling like doing anything other than sleep, cuddle or maybe watch TV.
"Yes you are." Kaito made a cartoonish pose, his left hand on his hip while he held the other in up and signaling a strong no, just as his head did. It made for a funny picture, if not for Shinichi being slightly annoyed at him.
"No, I'm not."
And that was how Shinichi found himself on a ride to an undisclosed location of some beach Kaito wanted to go to. He wasn't happy about that, to say the least, especially when the magician was singing merrily despite knowing how frustrated his boyfriend was. Of course Kaito's want for seeing his boyfriend in swimwear would win over and Shinichi would be forced to the fucking beach. He would never be fine with going to the beach, not because he was embarrassed or something, but because he just didn't like people - especially when they were children that made it their life mission to bug the hell out of the detective.
And Shinichi never hesitated to speak his mind, and that was how Kaito ended up driving an angry, feisty detective to the beach who was complaining at everything and anything. He brought that demon upon himself, alright. If he wasn't so sure that they would have a great that and that it would be worth it in the end then he would have just turned and went straight back home, but as it was he persisted. And let Shinichi rant for hours. He was regretting his decision by the moment, as his frustration grew. Especially when Shinichi was in the wrong. After a long drive, Kaito was finally able to take a breath, because they were finally there. Finally!
They weren't there just yet. It was still a 20 minute walk to where he wanted them and getting there was impossible by vehicles.
Shinichi looked around, positively surprise; the beach was completely empty, not one human to be seen anywhere. Not even anywhere near. It was nice, a hidden corner from the world; it wasn't much exposed as it was. The beach wasn't one of those kilometer long ones, this one had maybe 50 meters at most - he was being extremely generous though. He guessed that there was still a chance that he would be able to have fun with no one to disturb him there. Except Kaito, but he was used to Kaito. He could deal with his boyfriend.
"Are you happy now?"
"Yes."
"Good."

Half an hour later, they were finally settled; Kaito had set everything up and Shinichi was relaxing under the sun. That was, until he heard Kaito's expression of utter shock and disbelief.
"Shinichi! You can't just be in the sun without suncream on!" His boyfriend looked over the top as always, but now almost to a childish point - if they were in an anime, he would have surely turned into a chibi form. Good thing they weren't, he wouldn't be sure he would be able to bear that.
"You are not going to rub me in." He said that half threatening, eyes half closed, giving him a mean look.
"Of course I am? Who else would? Would you want someone else, someone who is not your boyfriend rub you in in front of your boyfriend?" The teathralics continued.
Shinichi's face fell. "Yes. That's exactly what I'm about."
