Shinichi was reading a book in his library; it wasn't a book he read before, but instead the newest book of an author he never read before. Not only was the book a mystery novel, bit also the whole book was a mystery - he didn't know what to expect. When reading works from creates he already knew, there was a certain pattern they followed and a sense of security in what he read - he was familiar with them and their writing style. This, on the other hand, left him completely at his toes - which was good for a mystery book. Normally, he would read the critiques of a book first to judge of it was with his time or if it was something he would enjoy. This time though, he was reading a relatively unknown, ebook author only which meant it had literally zero reviews and the amount of people that seemingly read the book was microscopic. But Shinichi loved the novel so far. It wasn't the greatest literary achievement of the century, nor was that Sherlock Holmes, bit the story telling was captivating. He couldn't not read it.

Engrossed in his book, he only noticed Kaito when he put a box right in front of him; although, in his defense, Kaito probably wanted to surprise him and of Kaito wanted to surprise him then there wasn't even a chance that he would let himself be heard. So, totally not his fault. The box was as nondescript as boxes went. A regular mail delivery that, rather large, seemingly heavy, otherwise there wasn't any giveaway as to what it might be. He looked up at Kaito, who was dressed as a bunny. For odd reasons. It wasn't a hot bunny costume, not was it an innocent yet sexy bunny, it was just a plain bunny suit like the ones that would stand in front of restaurants and at conventions. So, Kaito being very unkaitoish. Kaito that dressed up as a non sex version of something when they were home was so out of character for the magician. It was either Shinichi or Kaito in a sexy costume, or both. Because they could. It was how they rolled.

Overenthusiastic as always, the fake cheer clear, Kaito exclaimed: "Open it up!"

At which, Shinichi looked at the box, examining it further; trying to detect any oddities about it - he didn't want to end up with glitter on his face when the box blew up - cosmetic grade glitter, of course, Kaito wasn't an idiot. He couldn't find anything out of order, so reluctant as he was, he opened the box.

Kaito, who was watching the situation unfold, held back a smile. His boyfriend was too funny sometimes, treating his gift as a ticking time bomb while in the face of a real bomb, he wouldn't as much as blink.

"Omg! OMG! Kaito! It's beautiful!" And now, his sweetheart boyfriend was near hyperventilating, going straight for a hug - a hug that squished Kaito's bones and made him both proud and low key regret his decision to surprise Shinichi.

"This is going to be so much fun! Thank you", continued Shinichi.
