He was far from being the most trust worthy person in the list of people one could confess something to and know that he will either help a person or not say a word to anyone else. He'll say that he was very far down on the list, but considering that Shinichi wasn't someone that did things by the book, most of time time that was, he really shouldn't have been surprised that the detective chose him to have the knowledge of his current existential crisis. He still was, though, because any sane person would be - not that he fared very well on that list either. Who was the one that even made those lists? He seemed to fail at most of the ones which had a good trait in their focus. That was besides the point, what really mattered was the fact that the detective's head was currently in his lap as the other slept; too tired from life in general and from what he had heard from the boy on today's evening he knew that he really had a reason - Kaito himself would be in no better position if he was in the situation Shinichi had to deal with. Who was he kidding? He would fail miserably to even get a foot into the right direction.
His hand going to Shinichi's, at the moment, extremely messy nest-like hair, he had to say that he was flattered that the only person Shinichi had confined in was him even though he was somehow the detective's only real option. That one had come in as a real shock to him; of course, there weren't many people the boy could have a talk with that was deeper than small talk, but he could count at least 2 people who were better choices than him. Limiting that out hadn't gone very well, mostly because Shinichi could always come up instantly with a reason why the person was a bad choice, however when he had pointed out that Kaito was a much worse choice than some of the people he had mentioned the blue-eyed teen had denied it fiercely. That was extremely strange on his growing list if crazy situations he was put in, he figured that Shinichi probably had deeper motives hiding somewhere, but he let it slide - there wasn't much he could do anyways and he could at least comfort Shinichi without giving the big a hard time. He was already feeling down, he didn't need to make him feel worse. He was a gentleman after all, it was his job to keep people happy, especially if those people were attractive, young, smart and gorgeous detectives who looked absolutely delectable when he saw them chasing at him. It didn't help that he wanted to ask the other out for an already longer period of time; seeing him sad was the last thing he wanted, it low-key broke his heart, but also he couldn't be a douchebag and being nice to Shinichi would probably make the likely hood of the boy going out with him much higher.
Ah, the troubles of an international thief pining after a detective.
