Secret, but not?

It wasn't a secret that Shinichi was a busy man, but it was a secret as to why that lay deeper than what people assumed to be the case. The general internet option was due to how many cases he regularly wrapped up or the travelling, parties, awards, red carpets, interviews etc. And through, that was a major reason why, but the real reason he went to sleep everyday exhausted and thoroughly spent was due to the 4 years of relationship to the famous magician, Kaito Kuroba. Who, in his own right, was a fairly busy man - so busy that Shinichi often asked himself just how he managed to find time, every single day, to spend with him.

It wasn't his to complain though, of course not, not even when Kaito loved to be annoying and slightly teasing. For Shinichi, the only reason they weren't already living together and/or married was because he realised that the whole domestic fluff was just a fantasy, an appealing one, but he was well aware that reality would come crashing down at them, strong and they would not enjoy the idyllic life but rather bitch about one of them leaving sock anywhere and complaining about having to do the dishes and other petty things. So, they didn't live together, although, they lived in the same apartment complex and Kaito's apartment was right across his. They spent every night sleeping together as it was and it was not such a hard thing to guess that they would rotate daily where they would be spending their time. It was the ideal solution they found, it allowing them plenty of time together, being there for one of each other in case of emergency/hard times and experiencing all the morning cuddles they could all the whilst giving them their own private space to chill out when they wanted. And yes, both of them did their own dishes and if they shared a meal together, they would do the dishes they dirtied for that meal immediately afterwards, or on the case of spontaneous sex it would be laid off for later (they had enough second hand experience from their married friends to avoid the dish-washing fiasco; so many fights).

They never really attempted to hide their relationship, bit the truth of being in the spotlight was that relationship rumors hit hard and privacy from the media was at those times forgotten. Both of them acknowledged that it would be a bad idea for them to go announce their relationship to the public, and the media of course, in the early stages of their dating as it would put just another strain on the relationships apart from mashing schedules. And it would be also embarrassing as all he to announce their undying love to each other only to take it back a month or two later. They weren't exactly sure things would work out.

They never went out of their way to hide their dating and they still didn't and would probably never do, but they also didn't show it off. Reason one being that couples and couple's posts declaring their love and tra la la were mostly annoying and very repetitive. Wasn't their thing to do. And second reason was that Shinichi rather didn't like PDA, so they never really got caught kissing or anything couply.

And then 4 years went by and they didn't feel like the media had a claim to their private lives, so they just never went public. It's a private life for a reason and they were detective and magician respectively, not cheap reality stars who made a living commercialising their life.

People still suspected a relationship, because it was odd not to. Getting sighted together from one point and after that becoming total besties, living right next to each other and stuff tended to raise a few eyebrows.
