The Summer Time Heart

Claras P.O.V.

We left the party at around 11:30 p.m. I can't believe Andrew asked me out. Then I kissed him, I just couldn't hold it back.

I got out of bed and went down stairs, my mom was still on her business trip so I had the house to myself for a while. The house phone started ringing and scared me.

"Hello?" Clara asked.

"Hey, I was going to go hiking and I wanted to know if you'd like to come, I mean you don't have to. I just wanted to show you this beautiful spot up at Fossil Creek. Do you wanna come Clara?"

"Yeah, i'll get dressed and ready. Be here in 40?"

"See ya then sweet cheeks." And with that he hung up the phone. Clara made a bagel and ran upstairs. Even though it was just hiking she wanted to impress him. She shuffled through her closet to find a pair of blue jean shorts, a floral top, her cowgirl boots, and her little beige purse. She waved her hair and pinned the sides back to make it look a little messy but still cute. She added brown earrings and some Ray Ban sunglasses. She looked hot. She put on a light coat of beige eyeshadow and put her phone, keys, Chapstick, and her camera in her purse. She walked down stairs and her cell started ringing. She picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hey I'm here and by the way being your bathing suit."

"Alright, be right out." She hung up the phone went upstairs and got her floral printed baby pink bathing suit. She ran down stairs and locked the front door after she got out. Andrew was there holding his car door open for her. What a gentleman. She climbed in the the leather seat of his truck and he closed the door.

He got into the drivers side and we began our journey. A two hour car ride this time. He turned on the country station and we were singing the songs and making our way down the highway. He reached for my hand and we held hands.

He turned the radio down. "Can we talk?"

"Yeah, what's up hon?"

"Uh- mom and dad might split up, mine I mean."

"What? Why?"

"They've been fighting alot lately and dad mentioned a divorce and mom agreed."

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah, I'm kinda worried about it that's why I'm taking you on this trip. I don't wanna be home to hear the fighting. Have you noticed dad isn't ever home when you're over? That's so there ain't any fighting when you're there."

"Oh." I said softly. "Where would your dad go?"

"Oxford, Mississippi. That's where he's from. He has family out there but he wants me to go with him."

"Do you want to?"

"I mean as much as I love my dad I can't just leave you behind and I want to graduate at the high school I started at. I don't want to move, but I wouldn't want to live with my mom after the divorce cause she will get all emotional and fall apart. Start drinking. I can't leave Willow with that either."

"If they make the divorce a for sure thing, you can stay at my place. My mom is rarely home, we've known each other for so long she'd be perfectly okay with it."

"Does she know we're together?"

"I can't get ahold of her. She won't answer her phone ever. I don't know even where she is."

"I'm sorry," he said. "She'll be home soon. Don't worry love" he gave a soft kiss on her forehead.

"You always know how to make me feel better Drew." I said.

"Good, I will always be here to make you feel happy and wanted."

"Forever?"

"Forever."

The rest of the drive was just being played by country music. When they finally pulled up to the gates of Fossil Creek my heart fluttered. I heard this place has a 40 foot waterfall. There was no way I was jumping down that. I could die. We pulled onto the curvy dirt road an made our way down to a spot that no one was at. There was crystal blue water and a rope swing? Did he put it there? Before I could even register my mind he was opening the door for me.

"Thank you" I smiled. "Did you make the rope swing?"

"I come here when I need to think, no one knows about it but me and Keith. We built it just this year."

Before he said another word he jumped off the small cliff into the water. I wasn't in my bathing suit yet and I thought it'd be a good time to do so while he was down the cliff. I ran behind the car and quickly slipped into my bathing suit when all of the sudden there was a wet guy hugging me from behind picking me up. He brought me to the cliff and said "now jump"

I looked over the edge and saw nothing but the water. It was only a 20 foot cliff, it could be worse.

"No way, suit yourself." he jumped into the water making a huge splash. I waited for him to get out of the way and jumped in.

The way my hair felt against the wind made me feel like I could fly. When I hit the water I felt the cold water stick to my body. I rose to the surface and breathed. I never felt so free in my life. He swam to the other side where the rope swing was. I swam after him. When I got there he insisted that I should go first. I grabbed the stick on a rope am glided through the air. When I reached the deepest point of the water I let go. I swam around to the cliff to see that the cliff was a waterfall and there was a cove inside. I went to the cove and waited for Drew. When he got there he gave me a kiss and said "Clara, I fell in love with you the day I first met you. I knew from that point that when the time was right I would do anything to make you mine. I didn't date anyone else. I waited for you. When I saw that you where dating Xander I almost wanted to punch him in the face and call you my girl. But at that time you weren't. But now you are and baby girl, if anyone even goes to lay a finger on you my darling. They're gonna have a hella fun time getting their ass kicked. 'cause you are my girl now, and no one will ever have you the way I do."

I was so speechless all I did was kiss him. That was beautiful. Like he planned it out before even saying anything. He kissed me back harder and put his fingers through my hair. We where alone and no one and nothing could bother us.

"Thank you" I said.

"For?"

"Taking me on this trip. Saying those beautiful words. Being there for me."

"You're my baby girl now, I will do those things every day for the rest of my life."

"Promise?"

"I pinky promise." he held out a pinky and she put hers out too. They held pinkies and kissed it. He held her in his arms and when the sun set they went to the car. They made their way home and once they where at Clara's house he walked her to the door and pushed her up against the wall.

"Goodnight my princess." he gave her a kiss.

"Goodnight handsome." and with that he went to the car waiting for her to get inside safely. She stood against the other side of the door and she stood there and realized that he was the one. She had fallen in love with Andrew George Scott.
