For Clarification This fic takes place before season three. Also there's like one swear word in this so if you don't like that, don't  blame it on me.

A279' POV

"A2?" Aileen cuts through the silence.

"Yes?" I respond.

"Where are we going?" she asks. Crap.

"I... hadn't thought of that." I answer. When Aileen gives me an unimpressed look through my HUD I scoff, "Aren't you the A.I?" She nods. "What's the I stand for?"

"Intelligence, why?" She innocently replies. Wow. "Oh...I get it" she says giddily. It's my turn to give her a look. "Sorry, my previous companions said I needed to learn what sarcasm was! I gues-" she stopped suddenly.

"Are you malfunctioning?" I inquire.

"Really? Is that your way of asking if I'm okay?" When she gets no response she goes on "And yes I am okay, I just miss my old team" she adds sounding sad.

What do I say again?
"Well they're dead now."
Oh shit, wrong thing to say... "I'm sorry."

"I can tell" she drawls. "It's okay. I barely knew them. I'm still relatively young for an A.I and I miss the sense of familiarity that they provided."

"Right, so where are we going?" I change the subject.

"Glad you asked!"she perks up. "Now, I picked up multiple transmissions, they weren't even encrypted! From what I was able to gather from them, there are four major cities...Atlas, Mistral, Vale and Vacuo. They also talk about Grimm, whatever those are, and... Uh... dust..."

"... dust, like dirt?" I question confused.

"Yes Spartan people here trade dirt"

"Well you could've mentioned trade before. You mentioned something else? The Grimm?"

"Ah yes!... no clue!" She 'helps', I shoot her an unimpressed look through my visor. "What? Fine, let's see. They're described as mindless beasts, hellbent on killing.  Apparently they cannot be bound by terrestrial restraints."

"Yea I bet they'll be bound by terrestrial bullets" I say.

As soon as I say that something starts moving in the bushes. I raise my rifle in the general direction in preparation.

"I'm willing to take you up on that bet" she says disappearing from sight.

The thing gets closer. I can't hear footsteps, that could mean it doesn't have legs, that could bad. If it could get off the ground I'd have a major disadvantage already-
Something burst through the bushes... well that's disappointing.

"A monitor?" Aileen pops up beside me.

"Really, now you show up?" I ask her.

"Greetings reclaimer! I was sure I would encounter you here!" The monitor speaks up.

"Explain" I request "What is your designation?"
