the one with the (super short) catch-up
"So, tell me how that brief meeting with the bitch ended," Audrey said with a snarl, picking up her cup of coffee and taking a sip.
It was the day after Michelle had stormed off the bar, and also a day after Charlotte has revealed her feelings towards Harry. Catching up over coffee seemed appropriate to Charlotte.
"Don't call her that, Audrey," Charlotte replied, "You don't even know her."
"But she threatened you to not become closer to Harry," she retorted.
"Yeah, but-"
"Don't 'but' me, Charlotte, you know she is a bitch. What happened after she threatened you?"
"She got up and left."
Audrey snorted. "What a coward! She probably couldn't let you reply to her in case you responded with a comeback."
Charlotte played with her fingers under the table. She wasn't very comfortable listening to Audrey insult Michelle constantly, even if she did agree with her sometimes. But it felt wrong, talking about someone behind their back felt extremely wrong.
"So what happened after she left?" Audrey said softly in order to break the silence.
"Harry walked over..."
"And?"
"We talked."
She didn't know why she was being so blunt, giving short answers to all of Audrey's questions. But it had been twelve hours since she last saw Harry and she was feeling anxious.
After Charlotte had told Harry that she liked him, they went back to the restaurant and sat together on a table near the back. She ordered a Caesar salad because she was craving food, but did not want to feel full before lunch with Sebastian. Harry stared at her while she ate, making her feel uncomfortable with his gaze on her at all times. He kept her company, brushing off her worried questions. "Won't you get fired if you're not working?", "Are you sure you're allowed to sit here with me?", "I don't want you to lose your job because you decided to accompany me." He liked the fact that she was preoccupied about him and his job, but he already told Christopher to cover up for him for a while longer.
He admired the way she always looked so effortlessly gorgeous and they way she ate so elegantly. Her pink tongue would slightly be over her bottom lip when she ate a forkful of salad, and her cheeks would puff out when she ate a cherry tomato. She set the cheese aside, and when Harry asked her why, she responded with, "Always leave the best for last." And that's how he knew that she liked cheese.
After wiping her mouth, she stood up to leave to her suite where she would probably find Sebastian invested in work. She would wait for him and then they would both walk back down to have lunch, or if she was lucky enough he would take her out for lunch. But now she wasn't so sure if she wanted anyone else but Harry being their waiter. Harry offered to accompany her to her room, but she could only shake her head in disappointment with a hint of sadness because they could not be seen getting too close to each other.
Harry was still looking at her when the doors of the elevator closed completely.
"Hello? Bonjour? Is anyone there?"
Charlotte quickly left her thoughts aside and shook her head to rid her of the memories.
"Sorry, what did you say?"
"I asked, what did you talk about?"
"Oh, well we... well I told him that I liked him."
Audrey bounced in her seat and her eyes went wide, "You did?" She really couldn't contain her excitement.
Charlotte sighed. "Yeah."
"I'm so happy for you! What did he say in return?"
"That he was glad, because he liked me too," Charlotte blushed remembering how he kissed her hands and how she wanted his lips to be on them again.
Audrey squealed. "You two are going to be so cute, I can feel it!"
