A few hours later, the police arrived. Two officers looked at the writing on the mirror while the other questioned Hana.
"So you woke up and the writing was there?" He asked.
"Yeah. It's in an ancient language I've been studying." Hana explained.
"Any idea what it says?" The policeman asked.
"I think so. Something about the 'true god' returning and how I'm going to 'complete his metamorphosis'." Hana explained. "It's just something to try to scare me."
"That seems about right." The officer began writing on a notepad. Everything seemed fine now, but there was something else Hana wanted to say.
"Um... I feel like it might have something to do with what happened at the museum." She said. The officer looked up from his notebook with a confused expression.
"How do you know about that?"
"I work there." Hana explained.
"I see. And how do you figure the two events are related?" The officer asked.
"I'm not sure, but it just feels... connected. Like it's too coincidental." Hana explained. She began to rub her arm nervously. "I realize that sounds weird, but it's just a feeling I have."
"We'll look into it." The officer said. He continued to write in his notebook and flipped it shut when he was finished. The other officers came out of Hana's bathroom at the same time. "Well, looks like everything's settled here. We'll station some cars around your building tonight."
"That would be great. Thank you so much." Hana nodded. The officers began to leave, but they suddenly heard a loud crash. Everyone turned towards the source of the crash, which it turned out was the window. Hana gasped as she saw a figure standing there. It was the same creature crawling outside before. It had ripped black cloth draping over its body, and solid black skin now covered its features. Dark eyes gleamed under its furrowed brow. The policeman immediately pulled out their guns as Hana got behind them.
"What the hell is that thing!?" One of the officers said. The creature looked up at the officer as a terrifyingly gnarled smile spread over its face.
"The true king has returned." It hissed. Hana's eyes widened. The pieces suddenly fit together. She had seen this creature before. It was the corpse in the stone coffin she had found. It was the same thing that caused the murder in the museum and wrote on her mirror. This creature was Ramarak.
"Open fire!" The head officer shouted. He and the other officers began shooting at Ramarak relentlessly. The bullets barely affected him.
"Ah, what luck." Ramarak chuckled. "It appears I will regain my true form sooner than I thought."
Without another word, Ramarak lunged foreward, latching onto one of the officers. With a horrendous guttural roar, he bit down on the officer's neck before tearing him into bloody pieces. Hana watched in complete horror. Ramarak pulled himself away from the deceased officer and swallowed a chunk of his flesh. As soon as he did, more flesh began to grow on his skeletal form. Muscle formed and dark shaggy hair began to grow on the top of his head. Before anyone else could react, he did the same to the other officers one after another. By the end, Hana's apartment was covered in blood. Ramarak stood up, looking compltely different from how he did before. He was tall and muscular, much more so than Kong. His black hair hung down the sides of his head. His skin was a pale grey, and his fingernails and toenails were long and yellow. Finally, he opened his eyes, revealing his soulless yellow pupils surrounded by pitch black.
"Yes... I am complete!" He laughed. "My own flesh and blood has returned to me at last. Now there is only one thing left for me to do."
He turned towards Hana, who had backed into the corner of the room, sitting on the floor with her back to the wall. Her eyes were wide and filled with fear as Ramarak walked towards her.
"My girl, there is no need to be afraid." He said. "I will not kill you."
"S-stay back!" Hana stammered. He reached into her pocket and pulled out the knife Kong had given her many years ago. As she attempted to strike Ramarak with it, he caught her arm.
"This knife... it's from Skull Island." He observed. "Ah, you must have gotten it from that false king husband of yours."
"Y-you know about Kong?" Hana asked.
"Of course." Ramarak hissed. "He is the one I must kill in order to become king of Skull Island."
Hana gasped before Ramarak placed a clawed hand over her mouth.
"And now, my dear Hana," he began, "a king must have a queen. And if Kong sees you as a worthy candidate, then I suppose I will too."
Hana's eyes widened. She released a muffled scream into Ramarak's hand as she clawed at his arm and kicked at him relentlessly. Her attacks were in vain as he was far too strong for her. Suddenly, he opened his mouth and a black smoke erupted out. The smoke covered Hana's face as she screamed in terror.
