Weapon: Fimbulvetr: A really good rapier that isn't anything else. The rapier was commissioned by his mother when she was young to control her powers. This rapier absorbs some of Van's overwhelming ice powers but can only keep it for a day at most. After the time limit, if the power isn't released then the rapier unleashes a snowstorm that freezes the surrounding area. The power just needs to be released within a day. Likewise if Van doesn't store a day's worth of power into Fimbulvetr he'll start automatically generating a snowstorm and freezing the general surrounding area. Even with the restriction, Van's power still overflows, but only affects things in direct contact with him. Or if he allows it, the surrounding area. It isn't as drastic as his snowstorm generation. Power: Semblance: Icy Body Instead of a freezing body, it's more of control and generation of ice, snow and cold temperatures. Van calls it this because he can't control his powers. One example is when people touch him. If someone touches him without utilizing their Aura they slowly start to freeze. His Icy Body slowly reduces other's Aura in direct contact. It's best not to touch Van if you have low Aura Levels. Maybe his mother being the Winter Maiden influenced his powers of ice so much he became like this. Spoilers Below:
Van was the last person on his mother's mind when she died. And she was the Winter Maiden. There is a reason it was always a girl. It was because the originals were female. And so only female receivers would have control over their powers. His mother and father were attacked by Grimm, led to them by the White Fang, of course the White Fang attacked them too. His mother fought her hardest and told his father to run away and give Van her Fimbulvetr. Her power was aimed to be given to Cinder, little Cinder was there to try to steal?But she sacrificed herself and froze almost everything in the vicinity. Not only did Van inherit her Semblance, but also the Power of the Winter Maiden. Then his father was killed by the enemy. And at this moment, Van cried blood from his eyes and froze everything in half a kilometer radius rendering everything there dead. Except for himself.
