A/N: Another long chapter. This chapter is totally not too long. I've just been really pumped up from all the reads I've been getting. A bit over 70 reads is pretty amazing for me. Please comment anything you want to say. Anyway, enough of the note...

"Aaaah, what happened..." I mutter as I fall off the couch I'm sleeping on.
"Shit... Was that a hangover?" I try to get up and get some food.
"Aah right, I was toasting at Mr Xiao Long's home and...
Flashback Sequence Start
"YOU CAN'T DRINK THE REST OF MY WINE IF I DRINK IT FIRST!!!"
"VAN NOOOOOOOOO!!!"
"Yang, you and I will hold him off while Ruby gets his rapier."
""Yes Dad!""
Flashback Sequence End
Right, I was drunk but it ended really quick when Ruby just gave me Fimbulvetr right off the bat.
"Hey, you awake Van?" I can hear Yang talking from the other room.
"Nooooo...."
"Okay, then." Yang walks into the room with some cold water and..
"SHIT THAT'S...not that bad. It was a pretty refreshing bucket of water actually, can I take a bath here?"
"Sure, but don't use the hot water."
"Wasn't planning to." I just have to walk to the bathroom and...the only clothes I have are the same clothes I'm wearing. Whatever.
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Van taking a shower, covering his privates with a towel~
I have changed...and I should probably break the ice beginning to form in the bathroom, which I do so.
"Oh no..."
"Shit..."
"Yang is that you? You better not be peeking..." I open the door really fast only to find nobody. I thought I would find a rose petal on the ground, but I didn't. Fimbulvetr is already on me, so I'm free to do what I want, which reminds me that I need to buy a second wine bottle. I walk downstairs, seeing a wine bottle on the table, unopened. There's a letter near it that says:'Here's the wine my daughter promised you.'
"Thanks...I guess." Well, Ruby and Yang are at home and Mr Xiao Long would probably have given me the wine personally if he was here. So I just need to say bye to Ruby and Yang. I should pour myself a bowl of cereal first.
*Ahem*
"REESE'S PUFFS REESE'S PUFFS
EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP
REESE'S PUFFS REESE'S PUFFS
EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP EAT THEM UP"
"Stop. Please. For my sanity." Yang cuts in right there. Well, at least I drew out Yang.
"Yang, what were you doing outside the bathroom door?" I won't stop until I get an answer I'm satisfied with.
"Haaaah...peeking..."Yang says, while blushing and looking to the side. Heh.
"What about Ruby?" I ask as I grab a cookie and slowly bring it closer to my mouth...
"Nooooo!" The cookie was taken away from my hand and is inside Ruby's mouth. She eats the cookie in record time.
"What were you doing outside the bathroom door Ruby?" At this point I have finished pouring cereal and milk and am now eating it. Pour cereal first and then milk. Hmm? The cereal has a red-haired girl on the cover. Huh. What was the name of the cereal? Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes...Sounds pretty healthy. Probably not...whatever. I don't taste pumpkin.
"I-I was just looking to make sure you were alright...there was ice forming outside the door..." Nice save Ruby. I'll let you off.
"Okay...so Ruby was making sure I was fine, but Yang was peeking..." I look suspiciously at Yang. Yang is still looking to the side, while blushing.
"Hey, I was curious about how I managed to knock you out with one punch. I punched through your Aura like it was nothing. Even if you could only muster up a bit of Aura, because you were drunk, you shouldn't have been taken out in a single blow. Besides I didn't even take that much damage to punch through a person's Aura like it was nothing." Yang managed to form an explanation. I probably look downcast right now. I'm not.
"You see...Yang, my Aura regeneration rate is absolutely horrible. While you girls are able to recover your Aura from 10% to full condition within a day, I can barely recover any Aura and can't bring myself from 10% to 20% within 3 days." That's pretty much my life. I can barely use Aura, so I have to dodge almost all of my opponents attacks or overpower them through sheer force with my Semblance. My Aura regen rate always feels as if I can't regenerate the fastest I can, as if something is dragging it down. I guess that's because of Icy Body. Since it's automatic, I can't control it and it eats up my regen rate to make it absolutely abysmal. If only I could control it...
"That's sad Van..." Ruby calls out to me suddenly.
"It's fine, I've lived with it my whole life." I give Ruby a smile to assure her that it's fine.
"I'm sorry for punching you so hard at the bar, I thought you had a lot of Aura, since your Semblance was so powerful." Yang apologizes to me.
"It's fine, Yang. I forgive you. Anyway I need to go do my own things, so goodbye both of you." I say this just as I put the bowl into the sink and start to leave.
"Umm...bye Van."
"Goodbye!!!"
With these words as a parting gift I leave...
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Yang punching Chibi Van in the face~
I have just ice grinded to my place. Time to put the wine in~ I'll just go to the basement and put the wine in the freezer room. I guess you can consider everything in my house a freezer, but whatever. I'll put it in the back.
Time to go look for...someone...but first Ice Cream. Ice Pillar Elevation up. Ice grind to town. Time to eat some vanilla ice cream. I sit down in my seat at the back of the coffee shop and watch the place for an hour. It doesn't seem like that cat faunus student comes by here. I should look somewhere else... I'll jump from roof to roof, looking through the crowd. If I can't find her after several hours, I'll check inside the various shops. If even after that I can't find her, I'll wait until the initiation and after to find her. Through the initiation I'll keep notes on the bow users. Sounds like a plan.
Time to enact it. I jump up onto the roofs using my pillars and break them right after. Now, I just need to run around the place.
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Van running across rooftops~
Hah...hah...hah...hah...haaaauuuu"
I fall down on the rooftop tired as hell. It's already the Afternoon. And I still can't spot a black- haired cat faunus using a bow from the crowd. Does the student even exist? I know the White Fang recruit teenagers too, since teenagers are known to be hot-blooded, so it's possible. I'm so daft for thinking I could pick out a single faunus from a crowd of so many people. It just doesn't seem possible... I'll just look out again and...I think that's the girl. I look at the girl in question again. Black hair, black bow on head. Seems right. Almost anyone could have those features, but I just needed to look for 17-year old looking female teenagers with those characteristics. So it cut down a lot of people in the crowd.
I jump down from the rooftop discreetly and tail her. She doesn't know I'm tailing her. I'll keep tailing her until there comes an opportunity to talk to her alone. Eventually after half an hour of hard work, I manage to follow her inside a coffee shop. She goes to sit down at the corner and watch the crowd too. Maybe she's keeping a lookout for me too. I'll go up to her and start a conversation.
"Hey, is this seat open?" A classic.
"Yes." She answers cooly, keeping watch on me.
"May I sit here? You know I've always liked the corner in a coffee shop." Make some small talk Van...do this smoothly. If she really does turn out to be mom's killer, then you can wait, and kill her in Beacon. Preferably with Fimbulvetr.
"Sure..." I sit down at the table and make some small talk here and there.
"Hey, are you a Beacon Academy Student? You carry a weapon and you look like you're at the right age." Bring up her weapon. If the weapon changes into a bow. It raises the chance it's her.
"No, but I will be." The girl keeps answering with short answers, part of her strategy mayhaps?
"So, what about your weapon? It looks like...I don't know what it looks like. If you feel uncomfortable talking about your weapon, I guess I could talk about mine first?" I tell her. Hopefully she does talk about her weapon.
"Talk about your weapon." She replies. Okay then.
"Okay, this is my rapier, Fimbulvetr. Fimbulvetr's just a really good rapier. But it's main purpose is to keep my Semblance in check. Without it I would be freezing this coffee shop and some of the houses around it. If you don't believe me, then shake my hand." I can almost guarantee she's right handed. She's been using her right hand for most of the things she's done. She's drunk her drink with her right hand. And I'm pretty sure all bow users notch their arrow with their dominant hand. So if I just pull out my right hand and she shakes it. I'll be able to see the calluses on her hand and check if she is a bow user.
I reach out my right hand angled to be in the middle of my vision. With this she'll have to approach my hand from the left, thus allowing me to check it. She reaches her hand out to shake my hand...WHAT! She's covering her palm with her fingers!!! I can't check it now!!! Tch, she's more crafty than I thought.
Girl's Pov
I shake the stranger's hand with my right hand. It's so cold. Cold as ice. I pull my hand away from him, sensing some danger. No way...my fingertips have started to freeze, it stopped when I broke away from the handshake but, to have a Semblance that powerful...who is he? I look at him suspiciously as if he was deliberately trying to freeze me. Maybe he was.
Van's Pov
"Do you believe me now?" I ask, smiling the whole time. I have to get her to lower her guard.
"Yes..." she answers.
"So could you explain your weapon then?" I'm trying to give off the image that I'm interested in weapons like Ruby is.
"Sure, but could we move somewhere else? I don't think I could properly show my weapon's functions in a coffee shop." She must be trying to get me away from the coffee shop in an attempt to possibly kill me. But she didn't look like she recognized me. To be fair it would be hard for a bow user to shoot from so far away and be able to escape the Snowfield and be able to see a child.
"Alright," I move to leave the table and walk out the door with her," By the way I'm Van Einzbern, what's your name?" Maybe the name could get me closer to the murderer.
"Blake...Belladonna." She calmly answers. Belladonna, I don't recognize the last name. We head off to the forest it seems.
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Blake drinking her drink~
We finally reach the place. It's a pretty open area and secluded.
"Now, I believe I should explain about my weapon?"
"Yes, I would like that Blake." Blake pulls out her weapon and it seems to be a sword. Why do so many people use swords?
"This is my weapon, Gambol Shroud." Well it looks like a sword and I don't see any taut strings on the outside. To my knowledge, bows need to have a strong, taut string that can take the force of the shots well, in gun terms, recoil. It needs to also be flexible enough to allow the user to pull it back to shoot and stable enough to aim. The more taut the string is, the stronger the shot.
"I see, it looks like any ordinary other sword with a flat edge...is that perhaps a sheath?" I did spend my fair time researching weapons. The sheath does look sharp enough to cut. I reach my hand out to touch the weapon, but Blake doesn't allow my hand to go near it. That's fine, I wouldn't too if I was formerly part of a terrorist group.
"Yes, it is indeed a sheath..."Blake pulls out her sword from the sheath. It's a katana. I wonder if it has any other forms...
"Does Gambol Shroud have any other forms perchance?" For all I know there's a bow form and the taut string is in the sheath.
"...Yes. A gun form and that's it." She turns the katana into a gun. It looks like a pistol, all things to be considered. As if the pistol was built into the hilt of the katana and the blade was moved out of the way. I think I need to be blunt about a bow form.
"Really? Gambol Shroud doesn't have a bow form or anything?" Well, I don't see a taut string, and I don't see how it could reconfigure itself into a bow shape...but the killer could have switched weapons anyway. Just seeing the palm of her right hand will confirm or completely destroy the possibility. If she doesn't have the calluses then she can't be the killer. A bow user needs a crap ton of practice to shoot correctly, so they have to have developed calluses from pulling the string or notching the arrow.
"No...but why specifically a bow form?" Shit. I'll just say that she must have a weapon form for a longer range. Maybe mention since she's a cat faunus? But I haven't seen her tail, and she must be wearing that bow that covers her cat ears for a reason. Maybe to avoid racial discrimination.
"Well, you must have a form for a longer range right? A pistol isn't that long range unless you can compensate using your Semblance."
"What about you then? Your rapier doesn't change into anything." Feisty...
"I CAN compensate with my Semblance. My Semblance isn't just having a cold body, it's also the generation and manipulation of ice, snow and cold temperatures. So I can just shoot whatever I make with my ice..." I trail off, waiting for her explanation of how she attacks from a long distance...
"Well..." She looks to the side. As if she was asking for help from some imaginary person looking at this conversation. I look at the same direction she is. No one's there.
"Are you looking for someone?" I can't help but ask. I-I don't think she's the murderer anymore. She looks kind of...tame, now, I guess.
"N-no...it's just...I...don't have a long range form of attack." Uh...she doesn't have a long range attack??? Then how the hell does she deal with people who attack from long-range?
"So...how do you deal with...?"
"My Semblance... can actually compensate." It can? THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO EARLIER!!!
"Then...why didn't you say so earlier?" Why...
"Because..."
"Because.....?"
"I...felt like I couldn't trust you with the knowledge of my Semblance without knowing your Semblance..." Totally Blake, totally. You're totally not embarrassed about not having a long range attack.
"But I already told you my Semblance at the coffee shop..." The obvious flaw in Blake's logic is indeed obvious.
"Uhh..." Blake takes a step back as if I'm threatening her. It's like she's getting ready to attack like a cat does. Are we going to fight now? Well, if cat faunus instincts are that similar to cat instincts, it's possible. But I'd expect any good faunus to be in control of their instincts. Or maybe it's....mat-VAN SHUT UP!Don't let your instincts control you. Just...just keep talking.
"You okay there Van? You started to blush a bit..." Oh, Blake saw it. For a second there, I thought she had a mind-reading Semblance and read my mind. Man that would be embarrassing. A mind-reading Semblance wouldn't be very useful for fighting Grimm though...
"Y-yeah... so about your Semblance..." I bet we both look like blushing wrecks right now...
"O-okay... Well... I think it would be better to show you, I guess..." She runs away... I guess I should follow her...
I run after her...only noticing something when Blake suddenly shows up in front of me. Huh? I thought she was running away.
"Hey, Blake, at this speed, I'm gonna crash into...you?" What? Blake just...disappeared...and I'm tumbling on the ground. Does this have something to do with her Semblance? Hmm? I see another Blake in the distance. She's moving away...Now that I think about it, the 'original' Blake was running from the start. I guess this is a demonstration of how she deals with long range attacks.
"BLAKE, I'M GOING TO START ATTACKING NOW!!!" I shout at her as I keep chasing her. Blake seems to have no problem moving in the forest. I guess that's part of being a Faunus eh? Another Blake jumps at me and nods. She can even use her copies as messengers. The copy is obscuring my view of Blake. I rush through the copy and keep my view on Blake. I have to catch up to her. Time to grind on my Ice Rails. I grind on the Ice Rails, moving faster and faster. But the problem is, since it's a high speed chase, even though I'm faster, I can't keep up with her, because I have to focus my attention on creating Ice Rails that don't crash me into a tree. That would indeed force me to only being able to make potshots at Blake, thereby demonstrating her how she deals with long-range attacks. Make the attacker have to find the real Blake. Confuse the attacker with fake Blakes, while running away. Tricky...
This is a chase. Against someone who has clones as a Semblance. I'll just up my grinding speed and take potshots every...minute or so. Oh look, another copy. It's jumping on my Ice Rail. Aah whatever, she may trick me with visuals, but...THE HELL. IT'S SOLID? I JUST PASSED THROUGH TWO COPIES EARLIER!!!
"I HAVE FALLEN DOWN AND I CAN'T GET UP!!!" I scream in pain as I fall on the ground. I'm sure she can hear this with her kitty ears. Maybe I can knock her out with my loud voice? Probably not. She's getting so far away, I almost can't see her anymore.
I can see some copies follow me around, waiting for an opportunity. I've got to pick up the pace. I use an Ice Pillar to boost forward and grind even more forward. I set up a spiked ice shield and keep grinding forward. Well, time to pull out the thing. I'm going to say my next thoughts out loud, just because.
"Time to pull out Project 1. Heh, she doesn't know what's coming to her. I've tested my Semblance on multiple accounts but only yesterday did I realize that my Icy Body doesn't necessarily have to be an icy body. I experimented a lot with Dust, and saw that the ice 'crystals' I've formed when speeding with Ruby look like Crystallized Ice Dust. So, I thought that Icy Body was perhaps a result of exposure to Ice Dust Crystals. My mother always had a lot of that around, so..." After this long explanation to no one in particular, maybe Blake, but whatever, I pull out a Wind/Air Dust Crystal.
"Project 1 is actually just a super syringe designed to inject a whole crystal's worth of Dust into my bloodstream with 100% efficiency. This will allow me to at least change my Icy Body into a 'Windy Body' for an hour. I've tested it before with 10% efficiency with a Fire Dust Crystal. The results were that my Icy Body turned into a Fiery Body for 6 minutes. So, I'm going to assume here that Windy Body will allow me to go faster. Also Project 1 shall now be named: Elcharge."
I attach the Wind Crystal onto Elcharge and stab it into my left hand. I'm not risking my right hand for this. It hit a vein. Now I, press the trigger.
"Huk!..." That was more painful than I expected... My Ice Rail stopped. It's...breaking. I have to jump onto a tree branch. I do so, through the immense pain and clones.
"Haaahhh, haaaah....." Huh? Fimbulvetr's ice energy...it's going volatile...I've got to release it now.
"Haaaaaaaah!!!!!" I release it into the sky. Leaving some snowfall into the air doesn't sit right with me for some reason. Whatever.
Eventually my Icy Body changes. It takes about a minute. Fimbulvetr's trying to absorb the Wind Energy I'm releasing now. That's right, I forgot. I made Fimbulvetr chargeable with Elcharge. I have to do the same to Fimbulvetr or I risk creating a major whirlwind in the environment. I do so now. The part I can charge into is the hilt of Fimbulvetr. Fimbulvetr...it's time to change into a wind-absorbing rapier. I hope you accept it. I put the Wind Crystal onto Elcharge and stab it into Fimbulvetr's hilt, all the while I move closer to Blake. It took some time for Fimbulvetr to change, but eventually it did. I think it took a minute.
"The overwhelming power runs through my veins now...My Aura has even recharged to full." That was the real surprise. To finally find a way to recharge my Aura to full. Taking some pain for that is worth it," Blake I hope you're ready for this."
I create Wind Wings and push the wind to where I want it to go. Right now, it's in Blake's direction. I jump off the branch, cracking it into pieces.
"I'm so...fast..." I gasp as I 'dash' through the air. I feel like Ruby. I can even see...wind crystals. Am I going so fast I make wind crystals? That's pretty...amazing.
"Blake, I'm coming for you." I say as I immediately run through the forest, creating a wind barrier before me that cuts the trees into pieces. I have much more Aura to use now, so I'll use some. All the Blake clones look at me, shocked. It seems Blake knows I've sped up a lot. I'll catch her soon. The Blake clones keep obscuring my vision, by jumping at me. It seems that Blake is dispelling the clones from before and creating new ones to keep up and distract me. Despite my speed, Blake somehow manages to elude me. I've only got an hour to chase her before it wears off. When my Fiery Body's duration finally ended, it automatically turned back into the Icy Body. But I collapsed. I could barely reach my bed and sleep. Once I slept I was fine, but what would ending a change that lasted 10 times longer do to me? So, I've got to end this fast.
"Blake, I've only got an hour, so I'm putting my all into this hour." I nearly shout at her. I can see a clone nodding at me. Let's go. It's now or never.
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Van with Wind Wings chasing Chibi Blake~
This isn't going too well. We've been going at this for almost an hour. Almost, so I'm still changed. We're both tired. Blake isn't sending anymore clones and I can't use my Windy Body much anymore. At this point, we're out of the forest. I think we're at...Beacon Cliff maybe?
"Blake..." I manage to gasp out. Aaaah, my voice.
"Yes...?" She also manages to gasp out. I'm so near. Why didn't I train my legs? Blake can manage to walk faster than I can. Faunus have unfair advantages. Well, as a Beacon Student, training to be a Hunter, I should train up my stamina in case I get swarmed by Grimm.
"Can...we stop now?" I don't think I can go any longer. I feel like the change back is taking effect. I've got to release the energy in Fimbulvetr too. Well, seems like a good idea, so I do just that and launch it to the sky. Just got to walk a bit longer...
"Van?" Blake looks at me with worried eyes. Her bow, well ears twitch a bit too. Where does she hide her tail anyway? Wait...Blake is worried about me? We literally just met today. I guess you could say we bonded during the chase.
"I'm okay...I'm just a bit tired...from the chase." Bit tired my ass. I feel like I could collapse any second. Actually...
"Van!" Blake comes over and turns me over so that my back is to the ground. I have to tell her to bring me to my house at the bottom of the cliff.
"Can you look for an Ice Slide around the cliff Blake? If you find one, please bring me to the Ice House at the bottom of the cliff..." Wait is it even still there? The Ice Rail broke when I changed so maybe my House and Slide broke too... Everything turns darker and darker...
Blake Pov
I was just having some fun...How did this happen? Van tired himself out so much he collapsed? Well, a clone did see him stab something into himself and it seemed to change his Semblance. Maybe that change tired him out too much. Anyway, I should do as told. Last time I was at Beacon Cliff, I didn't see an 'Ice Slide' nor an 'Ice House.'
I leave Van there on his back, and search around the area. After several minutes of searching, I find the Ice Slide. There...really is a slide made of ice leading down. Did Van make this? What kind of person...nevermind. Van is strange.
"Van,I'll bring you down the slide now..." I pick up Van and carry him on my back, I don't have much experience carrying people, even back in...that organization. My tail's getting crushed by Van's weight... I'll have to move it...I think it'll be fine if I move it to the front of my right leg. Now, how do I bring Van down the Slide without hurting him? I think I'll have to do as Van does and 'grind' on the slide. I don't think any of the Dust in Gambol Shroud in conjunction with Shadow will help here.
"Here we go Van..." I try to say to Van as I'm about to 'grind' on the slide. He doesn't respond. How does he get back up anyway? It doesn't matter. The slide is connected to the cliff. Well, put my front leg on it and push off with the other.
It's going faster than I thought it would...Is the combined weight of Van and I really that heavy or is the ice that slippery? I'll believe in the latter. The wind buffets my body and almost blows off my bow. The slide seems to go in a spiral down until it reaches the ground. Let's not vomit here. I have to keep Van on me, while keeping my balance on this thing. This'll be hard...
~Timeskip brought to you by Chibi Van and Chibi Blake sliding down the Ice Slide together~
I finally made it to the bottom, without dropping Van. All in all, a successful mission. Though the wind did blow my tail out of my clothes. I think it brushed on Van's face a bit, but he wasn't awake, so it should be fine.
"Is that...Van's House?" I think I can assume that the Ice House is Van's. I walk closer to it, and walk through the entrance. Brrrr, it's cold. My ears are freezing... but it's not bad enough I have to use Aura. Strangely, my body didn't freeze when touching Van without my Aura. Maybe it's a side-effect of his change? The house looks exquisite, it's beautiful. I never knew ice could be this beautiful... I should probably put Van down somewhere. I walk deeper inside the house and see a bed... It's a bed made of...snow? Interesting... I'll just put Van on the bed and leave him be. I do so, but I feel rather guilty for making him collapse... Looks like I have to take care of him until he wakes up...A/N: So Van finally meets the whole Rwby team... Anyway thanks for the reads. Goodbye. See you 2 days later.
