  The next day, 5 days to initiation. Time to relax around town...or practice control for the snowstorm generation part of my Semblance. Relax it is. I, this time, ride an ice sled to Vale. Surprisingly it worked. I just randomly wander around until I find myself at the shop that was being robbed. Turns out it was a Dust shop. Owned by the...Schnees.
  I probably should buy some Dust, if not for fighting, I can at least experiment with it. I see a white-haired girl with a ponytail talking to someone. Her hair is a rather similar shade of white to mine.
"You dolt! I told you to..." I can hear her shout at the poor guy for missing a container of Dust.
"Sorry Miss Schnee."
Suddenly a person bumps into her and I.
"Hey, my wallet," I hear her say. Wait, did I lose my wallet too? I check it in the pockets in my pants. It's not there.
She and I both scream at the person and run to catch them.
"YOU DOLT!"
"YOU DAFT FOOL!"
I iceskate towards the thief and try to catch him. I can see her trying to catch him by using the Schnee family's hereditary Semblance: Glyphs. She's using the glyphs to push her forward.
It's as if we're in a race to get our wallet. I pick up the pace and grind my way to the thief and grab him or her. It wasn't even a challenge. Oops I accidentally froze him...or her. Shit.
"You dolt...you froze the thief, how am I supposed to get my wallet now?" The Schnee asks me with a tired look on her face. Did the chase take that much out of her? It didn't even last 5 minutes. Or is she just sleep-deprived?
"Chill, I'll just break the ice." That was accidental. Shut up. I break the ice and look at the culprit. It's an adult female, she's a faunus of some kind. I think she's a....wolf faunus. The Schnee takes her wallet back and I do the same to my wallet. She surprisingly wakes up.
"Tell me, why did you steal my wallet?" The Schnee interrogates. I don't really care either way. I got it back, so it's all fine.
"Please...please forgive me, Miss Schnee, I-I just needed to feed my family. I have 4 daughters to feed..." Oh, that's so cliche. But my heart just can't help but feel like I have to give her money like some good protagonist does.
"It's fine... but there will be a punishment," so the Schnee can't just let her off," sign this contract." The Schnee hands her a contract. The woman looks surprised and happy. What was written in the contract?
"Thank you Miss Schnee, I promise to work my hardest!"
"No problem, give me the contract, I'll keep the original." Schnee took the contract. After giving the contract, the thief runs to the Dust store.
"Can I see the contract?" I'm really curious about what it entails.
"Sure," she says as she hands me it. Let's see...
"Woah, you're offering her a job with above average pay?" I wouldn't have expected this of a Schnee. I thought Schnees were meaner than this.
"Yes, when you're an heiress, you have to be able to make any situation profitable." That's pretty good advice. But is that really something an heiress should be able to do?
"I see..." I look over the contract again and to my surprise there's more on the back. It says something about a daily deliverance of food to the thief's family. Geez, she didn't need to go this far for a thief.
"Ah, I forgot to thank you. Thank you. My name is Weiss Schnee and what's yours?" She asks. I finally got thanked for doing something.
"You're welcome and I'm...Vanilla Einzbern," I answer back. She said her full name so I should too. Well it's not really the full 'full name' but it should suffice for Weiss.
"Einzbern... I thought you were a relative of mine when I heard you say 'Daft Fool.' You have white hair too. Are you sure you're not a Schnee?" So she asks.
"No, but people have mistaken me for one."
"It was nice meeting you Vanilla. Now I have work to do. Goodbye."
"It was nice too. Bye, Weiss Schnee." Weiss walks back to the Dust Store and starts ordering the people around. I should go explore more of Vale.

"So what do you want?" The barkeeper asks me.
"I'll take...uh...some good red wine." The barkeeper smirks at me and pulls out some of it. Did I mention he had a huge mustache on him? He hands me a bottle. I pay him for the bottle and take it with me. I can age this and use it for celebrations.
"ANNNNNNNNND THE YOUNG LADY WINS AGAIN!!! CAN ANYBODY DEFEAT THIS LADY AT A DRINKING CONTEST??!?!?!?!?!?" That's so fucking loud. I look over and see the 'lady'
It's Yang. She's drinking like there's no tomorrow. How the hell? She looks over at me and looks me straight in the eyes.
"Hey....if it isn't the guy Rubes brought home," Yang says out loud. She's not drunk at all? How the hell?
"Hi Yang. What're you doing in a bar like this?" What IS she doing in here? Just getting free drinks through drinking contests?
"Getting free drinks through drinking contests," and my question's answered," want to drink with me....uh, Van?" How does she know....? Whatever, Ruby probably mentioned my name to her at some point.
"Sure, but I'm a casual drinker. I don't like getting drunk." Last time it happened...well I don't remember but from what I saw, a lot of trees were frozen the last time.
"Come on, it'll be fine...Just take a sip of this..." Yang pulls out a cup for me to drink. Well, it doesn't look that alcoholic...
"Well, then, bottoms up." I drink it in one go. It isn't that bad...Until I finish drinking it. Fuck...I feel so...
Yang Pov
My plan worked. Van's getting drunk and I can use this chance to interrogate what really happened between him and Rubes. He looks really drunk. What's he doing? He's standing up and taking out his rapier. Oh he just threw it at the door. It's lodged in the door now. Now what?
"Is it me, or is it a lot colder all of a sudden?" Some guy asks his friend. It does feel cold right now. Is this Van's doing?
Suddenly I see the ground beneath Van's feet freeze, the door Van's rapier is lodged into freezes too. Is this...Van's Semblance. I think back to what Rubes said about Van.
Flashback Sequence Start
Rubes was standing before me and dad, talking about Van.
"He said something like...

"Now the thing is, my Semblance is automatic so if I touch someone directly, if the person isn't using Aura, they slowly freeze."

Rubes also theorized that it was his weapon keeping him in check. Because she said she didn't feel him using Aura during the freezing. I have two choices here: somehow knock him out, or stop him somehow. I'll test Rubes' Theory firsthand.
I have to run, grab his rapier and hand it back to him, but the problem is Van himself. Van started covering everything in ice, the ice gets closer to me. I can see the ice covering a bottle he's holding. Is that wine?
I start to run past Van and activate my semblance at it too. Van looks at me and does nothing. I feel him touch me on the shoulder. I can feel the ice covering my shoulder slowly.
"Aah, shit Van that's just cold of you!" I keep running and reach the door. I try to grab his rapier and pull it out of the door.
"It's...freezing my hands." I gasp in shock. It doesn't matter. I have to give it back. I pull my hardest and finally pull it out. I rush back to Van but find my legs frozen. Shit.
Third Person's Pov
Yang tries pulling at her legs desperately, knowing that the fate of the people in the bar depends on it. Some people have already turned into ice sculptures. Seeing this, Yang finally breaks free using her Semblance. Her eyes turns red and she rushes at Van and decks him in the face, knocking him out. The ice doesn't stop.
Yang's Pov
I did it. I knocked out Van. Still, that was close. All of us could've died. Wait...
"The ice...isn't stopping?" But I knocked Van out. His Semblance should stop...
Flashback
"He said something like," Now the thing is my Semblance is automatic...""
Flashback End
It's automatic...SHIT. I look around, trying to think of a way to stop him. I remember I'm still holding Van's rapier. I put it in his hands. I hope this works. If this doesn't...then...I guess I'll have to carry Van out of here and bring him into the forest.
Van's Pov
"Oh shit, fuck..." Aah, I feel as if I just woke up from a hangover. Uurp, I'm going to barf. I just barfed. In front of...is that Yang? I think I barfed on her shoes...Shit.
"You finally stopped..."
"Stopped what Yang?" What did I...Oh, I almost froze the entire bar. I should break all the ice. The ice breaks just from me willing it to break. Except for the ice covering the wine bottle. I'm keeping that.
"And you...barfed on my shoes too..." Shit, Yang's going to beat me up. I can just imagine it. Yang using whatever weapon she has to beat me up. Maybe her father and Ruby will be there too.
"Sorry Yang, I'll pay for new ones. So please don't beat me up with your family..."I beg Yang with my signature technique. Puppy dog eyes. These always worked on my parents.
"That won't work on me Van. I'm already used to it. Rubes tried it a lot when we were young. Now, I have to go buy supplies for Rubes' party." Yang says exasperated at me.
"I-I'll help you buy supplies too! After all I did nearly freeze you to death..."
"And barf on my shoes..."
"Let's buy you new shoes first." I manage to say as I composed myself.
"Well, hurry up!"
"Yes." Yang and I buy new shoes for her and we clean her shoes with some water. After that we head to the store and buy some supplies for a party as Yang says. She invites me there too.

"So, what's the party for?"
"Rubes' entering Beacon Academy 2 years early!" Yang tells me with a smile," But you were there when it happened right? Can you tell me what really happened?"
"Well, I can't tell you the full details as I wasn't there from the start. So... I was just leaving from a coffee shop and I was walking around Vale. I saw Ruby and some Fangs jump out of a Dust Store, so I decided to help her. We beat up some of them but one escaped on a a helicopter. We both talk and suddenly Daft-er Headmaster Ozpin shows up and invites Ruby to Beacon. She gets excited and I offer to come along. So she brings me along on her shoulders and we arrive at your place. I fall down from the sudden stop and roll until I reached your door. You know the rest." I think I could've worded it better but whatever.
"Interesting...anyway we're here!" Yang points out her home from the distance.
We walk there while talking about the party. I wasn't sure if Yang's dad would accept me being there since I was literally just invited.
Yang knocks on the door, saying," Dad, Rubes I'm home, oh and I brought a friend too!"
Friend huh. I guess you could consider Yang and I friends. I've never had any friends before as I lived alone in my snowland, eating snow cones. I should be grateful to have a friend this early in Beacon. But I guess you could consider Neo a friend too.
"Yang?" Ruby opens the door, seeing Yang and I standing there carrying supplies for the party," Oh, Van you're here too. Why are you...?"
"Yang invited me to join the party...So may I join?"
"Sure...come in Van!" Ruby answers with a yes. I'm happy I was let in. I hope to enjoy the life I have like my mom said to.

After the congratulation party, we all converse over various things like Beacon, our Semblances and whatever.
"So Van, what is it with your Semblance, you nearly froze the entire bar?" Yang asks me.
"A-ah well..."
"Yeah Van, I wanna know too." Ruby cuts me off. Mr Xiao Long, as I have been told is his name, sits there looking at me as if to tell me to tell his daughters. Also it seems that they are half-sisters.
"Okay, well, I have named my Semblance: Icy Body because of it's automatic effect. I automatically slowly freeze any living thing that touches me. If I want it to I could freeze a human being in 2 seconds. It has other effects too such as the generation and manipulation of ice, snow and cold temperatures. That's it." I finished explaining my Semblance to the family. I'm not fully sure about my Semblance's full effect, but that's the gist of it.
"What about your weapon?" Ruby asks me. She looks at Fimbulvetr with an excited look on her face again. What is it with her and Fimbulvetr?
"Well, Fimbulvetr is my rapier. A really good one, passed down from my mom. But it's main function is to absorb the excess energy leaking off of me from Icy Body. From what I know, my mother had a similar Semblance, but she had much more control and it looked like she didn't use her Aura when using it. Anyway Fimbulvetr keeps Icy Body in check by absorbing most of the energy leakage. I have to release the Icy Energy in it every 24 hours at least or it will automatically release it in the form of a snowstorm to empty space for more absorption. Without Fimbulvetr I would be causing a snowstorm everywhere I go and freeze most of the surrounding area." I finish explaining what I know of my Semblance and Fimbulvetr's ability.
"...So cool!!!" Ruby says after a while. Is it really?
"Your Semblance is really strong. Van, I would like to have it." Yang says too.
"Anyway, enough about me, what about you Yang." I point to Yang first, because I want to know how she managed to survive the snowstorm I created when drunk.
"Hoho, you want to know about me first?~" What is she getting at?
"Yeah." I casually answer back.
"Okay, well My Semblance is being able to add the damage I take into my strength. I don't know what to call it yet. It's pretty simple." She hasn't thought up a name for it...
"I'll name it!" I say. I'm sure I could think up a good name for it. What should it be...Fighting Spirit? Rage? Tension? Meter? Ah, I got it. Damage Conversion.
"Okay, what do you have in mind?"
"Damage Conversion. It's pretty simple. You convert the damage taken." This is my greatest name creation.
"I like it!" Yang smiles, finally at rest from the troubles of naming her Semblance. So I pray, that you may find peace.
"What about mine? You've seen mine, so you should be able to name mine right?" Ah Ruby... Why has nobody named their Semblance yet? Well, she moves in flashes and really fast. But she also basically turns into rose petals, oh and I remember looking behind me and seeing Ice crystals flow out. She turns into rose petals and I turn into Ice Crystals. Rose Dash? Flash Movement? Petal Dash? Flash Speed? Blossom Dance? Born in a world of strife, against the odds, we choose to fight! Blossom Dance! But it doesn't really work...does it? I really like Blossom Dance though. The Blossom part could be for Ruby's blossoming into the person she will be...
"How about Blossom Dance?" I choose to see Ruby's reaction to it first. She has a thinking face on. I think she's trying to decipher the meaning to it. Hopefully she likes it.
"I think it's good," says her father, Mr. Xiao Long. I didn't think he'd like it.
"If you like it dad, I like it too." Ruby says. Looks like she finally made her decision. Geez the Blossom Dance could've been an innuendo. Does her dad not know it or does he actually like it?
"Van, come with me for a bit," Mr Xiao Long tells me. I feel not safe.
"Okay," I answer as we leave Ruby and Yang behind.
Mr Xiao Long and I walk outside of the place, he closes the door. Is he going to kill me outside the house? Am I safe? He didn't bring a weapon, but he could have some sort of Semblance that's powerful enough to overpower my Icy Body.
"Van, or should I say Vanilla Einzbern Sch-"
"Don't say it!" So he knows too.
"Okay then, Vanilla. What are your intentions for joining Beacon?" The first question.
"To train." It is true.
"For revenge?"
"Yes."
"Who is it you wish to seek revenge on?"
"I don't know. All I have is this." I show Mr Xiao Long the arrow. I've always held the arrow with me, I'm afraid that somebody might steal it and realize my intentions.
"I see, then you can rest assured that it wasn't one of my daughters. Or me." I can, huh?
"What's the proof?" I ask of him.
"You've seen Ruby's weapon, and you probably have noticed the calluses in Yang's palms. The calluses weren't from using a bow. You need a lot of practice to aim with a bow properly, besides Yang uses her fists to fight. And then you can look at my palms." Mr Xiao Long opens his palms to show me the calluses on them. They aren't from a bow. I guess he's right.
"Sorry for doubting you and your daughters Mr Xiao Long."
"It's okay. I'm just glad I can finally put your worries to rest." Heh, Mr Xiao Long is a really nice guy, unlike Daftpin.
"Let's head back inside...Yang should be using your...gift to use." My gift? I didn't give anything. Mr Xiao Long opens the door and we walk back inside. I see...
"YANG WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY WINE!?!?!?!!???!" YANG IS DRINKING MY FUCKING WINE.
"WHAT THE HELL YANG!!!!" Yang starts to run away with my wine.
"YANG YOU BETTER PAY FOR THAT SHIT, IT WAS EXPENSIVE!!!" I chase after her. I was going to drink that wine once I finished my house. The rest of the time was spent with me eventually catching up to Yang. She offers a compromise.
"Dad'll pay you back, if you let us all drink it~"
"Tch, fine..." I say in exasperation.
"Yang don't give it to Ruby and Ruby don't drink it."
"I'm fine eating cookies dad."
We all gather around the table and pour wine into our cups. Except Ruby, she pulls out a cookie.
"Everybody, let's toast today as celebration for Ruby's entrance into Beacon Academy!" Mr Xiao Long says as we all raise our cups and cookie into the air. We push them together and start drinking/eating our cups/cookie.
"You won't get drunk again right Van?"
"Definitely not."
"Good."
