anastasia's view

𝔗he man was concealed in the shadows, although he seemed to be a shadow himself. Even from here, my eyes seemed to zoom in on him like a phone camera, and I noticed the features that I could see. Raven black hair that seemed to blend in with shadows, and despite the darkness cast over his face I could see a chiseled jaw and high cheekbones. His eyes seemed to be an endless pitch black hole that swallowed me, the dark colour matching that of his dress code, which seemed to be all leather. Just the sight of him sent my stomach to the ground, and his presence was the very dark cloud cast over the cemetery; it was the fog covering the ground, and it was the raven on my parent's gravestone. I didn't know who he was, and I didn't want to know. All I knew was that the silhouette of the man I had never met before made me want to run for my life but walk closer at the same time.

I chose the first option. I whipped around, my blonde curls flying to the side, and I hurried as fast as I could with my heels in the opposite direction of the shadow. I vaguely registered something flying from my hand, but I didn't even turn to see what it was. All I felt was an insatiable need to get away from whoever that was, as that's the side of me that I decided to go with. Glancing over my shoulder for a split second, my eyes searching for the man, who had suddenly disappeared, was a bad decision. I knew that as soon as my feet fell from underneath my and I went tumbling down a hill. I felt as if my insides were turning with me as I rolled down, my hair becoming entangled with leaves and sticks and scrapes ripping into my palms. About halfway down I felt a rock rip into me knee, making me grind my teeth and squeeze my eyes shut.

I felt it as soon as I stopped rolling down, and I opened my eyes, the cemetery seeming a lot brighter than when I started falling. My hair was in tangles, falling across my face, intertwined with sticks and leaves. I let out a large breath, placing my hands on the ground and propping myself up. As soon as I managed to stand up, I moved my hair out of my face, but I barely had time to pluck a twig before a wave of nausea hit me like a tsunami and lightheadedness swallowed me whole. I leaned on a nearby tree, taking a deep breath and looking down as I tried to clear the spots from my vision. Unfortunately, before that could happen, my grip on the bark slipped and I felt myself falling once again. The only thing that stopped me from falling were a pair of warm hands that encircled my waist and pulled me back up.

I felt my heart race double when I glanced up and saw who it was that had swept me up; it was the guy from the men's washroom. The guy who had been burning a hole in the back of my head with his stare all day, in every single class that we had together. And I became ten times more aware of the fact that his hands were still on my waist, my body was pulled flush against his and his green eyes were burning into my ice blue eyes.
