As soon as I bid him bye and headed towards my home, I couldn't help but notice the commotion going on. Not a serious one but more of the loud laughter one. The person who was responsible for the commotion was also responsible for the 32 watt smile which appeared on my face the moment I saw him.
"Oh my god! Sanjay uncle! I can't believe this. You actually kept your promise of visiting me for my birthday. This is so surprising. I'm pretty sure there's going to be an earthquake today."
"Oh Aarushi! Stop mocking me already. Here I came to visit you for your 18th birthday and this is how you treat me ?"
"Okay okay! Just hold on. I'll freshen up and then we'll talk the whole night."
"Sorry Aarushi but I have to leave, infact immediately. I have to board my flight to London. I just wanted to see you before leaving as I might not be coming back for probably six months."
"But that's soo unfair! Okay fine but when you come back I want you to make it up."
"Definitely. Now I'll take your leave, but yah don't forget to have a look of what is inside the blue box sitting on top of your bed."
"Okay! Byee"
No sooner did my uncle leave than I rushed to my room. I remember asking him for one of the most precious things ever anyone could give me and him promising to fulfil my wish on my 18th birthday.
There sat on my bed, in its glory, a huge box wrapped in blue. I hurriedly tore the packing to realise that yes, my guess was absolutely right. It was a telescope. I wanted to immediately set the telescope on my terrace and watch the stars but my mum had called me for dinner stating that it was already too late.
By the time I managed to get out of my house with my telescope, I realised it was already 11. I so wished Kabir was here right now to help me carry this heavy telescope to the terrace, But what can I expect from him. He's always been extremely interested in camping and looking at his steady performance in academics, my parents would never oppose his constant camping programmes.
It took me another 15 min. To set the telescope and I couldn't help but feel extremely happy for finally owning this precious thing which gives me the ecstasy and peace I have always craved for.
"Aarushi!"
"Oh god aarav! You scared me. Why did you have to shout?"
"Sorry! Wait, a telescope. Is that yours ?"
"Finally it is mine!"
"Can I look through it, if you don't mind."
"Offcourse!"
I moved aside to allow him use the telescope. I expected him to know how to use it, but I was wrong. He was struggling.
"Aarav. Don't you know how to use it ?"
"Ummm.. Is it that bad if I say no."
His innocence. Ohh my god. What even? This guy will be the death of me. He was looking down, scratching his head, kinda embarrassed. A moment ago I was pissed for he was ruining my setup but then the second I look at him, all my anger goes down the gutter and is instead replaced by admirability. So damn adorable.
"Oh god aarav. I'll show you wait."
I went and stood right beside him and started setting the telescope to its initial position. It took me a lot of time again and I was actually doubting if aarav had left already as he wasn't saying a word. Accomplishing my task I turned to my side only to get caught completely off guard. His eyes. Oh my god not again. There was absolutely no space between us. I don't know for how long was he standing there, so close to me. I wanted to step back but I couldn't. I wanted to tell him to step back But I couldn't do that either. I was in a trance and I guess he was too. We wouldn't move a inch closer or away nor would we say something. Our trance was broken by an alarm. Alarm? Seriously?
"Umm sorry. I had actually got something for you. Can you like close your eyes for a moment."
"Okay"
"Open"
There he stood again. Right infront of me but this time the gap between us was maintained by a small cupcake with a candle on top of it.
"Woah! This is so cute. Like oh my god the cupcake is so pretty."
"I'm sorry. I actually didn't know it was your birthday until a couple of hours back. I could just manage to get 1 cupcake baked without getting it burnt."
"Are you kidding me? You baked this cupcake? Like Woww"
"We'll talk about that later. For now blow the candle and make a wish."
"Okay "
I blew the candle but honestly I had nothing to wish for. All that was ever missing in my life was standing right in front of me. I have to be the most luckiest person for getting everything I ever wished for. Now I seriously wanted nothing more. Right here was the perfect moment, him, me and our galaxy. I Just wish for the time to freeze forever so that I don't lose this moment.
"Happy birthday Aarushi!"
"Well thank you. Not only for the wishes but also for everything you've done for me. This cupcake is the sweetest gesture anyone has ever done for me. I'm so glad I met you Aarav."
"I'm glad I met you too Aarushi!"
And out of nowhere pop out the 2 most annoying people of my life.
Some People say that we fall in love only once. I disagree with them because I fall in love with him everyday. Slowly, deeper and deeper.
I'm still falling in love with him.
