Percy
Next thing I know, I'm in a tiny cell looking thing. There was glass that almost looked like plastic. There was blue padding in the back. There was a huge metal thing on my leg. It had blue lightning almost coming out and attaching onto my leg. My leg felt like lead and it was completely numb. I tried to stand up, but it was hard. I couldn't feel if my leg was stepping or not. I fell to the ground. I had to get back to Annabeth. My Wise Girl needed me. She actually probably didn't because she could handle her own very well, but I liked to think that she needing me emotionally. After Tartarus, I had nightmares. Most about Tartarus himself. His face like a black hole. I'm pretty sure Annabeth had them too. She needed me, just as I needed her. I took out Riptide. I uncapped it and started slashing the door. The blade didn't go passed it like mist, but it did make a small scratch on the door. I started to punch, and punch, and punch, and punch until I made a small crack. If my foot was numb, would that mean I wouldn't feel the pain if I kicked it? Let's hope so. I kicked the glass as hard as I could. I felt an electric shock through my leg. It hurt like Tartarus. Trust me I know what Tartarus feels like. The crack I made got a little bigger, but not much. All I thought of was the crack that had split open in the floor of Arachne's lair. The one that led into Tartarus. The one that I would not let Annabeth fall into alone. A fell into a memory. Remember how Hazel would blackout into a memory of her past life? Well ever since Tartarus, that had happened to me. I always tried not to think about it, but at night in the dark that's all I could think about. Now I was falling into a memory. Literally.
I was falling into Tartarus, holding Annabeth as close as I could. It felt like we had been falling forever. At least seven days. I couldn't tell. All I knew was that the air was rushing in my ears, and my stomach was in my throat. Annabeth clung onto me. I kissed her forehead and put my chin on top of her head. Then the air turned to sulfur and the clouds were acid. We fell into a lake. At first I was relieved that we were in water. Then I realized we were in Tartarus. It couldn't be good. At first I was fine, Annabeth and I were alive. But then I heard voices. They kept telling me it wasn't worth it. I knew that I shouldn't listen to them. They kept saying how we were going to die anyway in more painful ways. I thought about that. It was true. Without me, there was one less boy that the giants could choose from. It wouldn't be my fault if Gaea rose. Join us below. Don't suffer. It's not worth it. They were right. I started to sink. I felt splashing around me. "Not worth it." I repeated
"Percy! Listen to me! Focus on me!" Annabeth said, "You said you wanted to take me to New Rome. There was a college there."
My little brain gears started turning. I loved Annabeth. There was no way that I could let her go.
"Yeah." I said
"What would you major in?"
A grin sprouted on my face, "Surfing?"
Annabeth laughed. I bet that it was the first one ever to be heard in Tartarus. The voices kept talking, but I wasn't listening anymore. I had to get to Annabeth. She helped me out of the water and on the sand. The sand was not soft. It was black broken pieces of glass. Every inch of this place was designed to hurt you. We sat there, our hands bleeding.
"Could have been worse." Annabeth said. I looked at her, "We could have fallen into the Lethe. Then we wouldn't remember each other. I'm not going to lose you again Seaweed Brain."
"I'm staying right here, Wise Girl." I said
I woke up with a start and inhaled deeply. I started hyperventilating. I was on a medical bed. My leg felt like it was on fire. I looked around. There was only one person there. The red head Caitlyn. She was looking at something. It looked like x-rays. Who's ever leg that was, I feel bad for them. Then it hit me. That was my leg. That broken mess was my leg. I looked down at my leg. I was wearing sweatpants instead of my jeans. They were pulled up to my knee. My leg was bent slightly the wrong way, and where the weird metal thing was, there were now little red indents.
"Annabeth!" I called
Caitlyn turned around. I started to stand up, "Annabe-" I crashed to the ground, and cursed in ancient Greek. My leg felt like it was run over by a car. I heard someone running into the room I was in. I saw my girlfriend running in, her blonde curls in a ponytail whipping behind her. She knelt by my side and tackled me in a hug. She had a cut on her cheek. I felt a gust of wind and saw Barry in the room to see what had happened. He was a little bruised. What happened when I was out?
