I was tring not to cry as Taylor and I hugged goodbye.

"I'll miss you Tay." I say choking back the tears.

"I'll miss you too, it's too bad that you don't have a phone so we can text eatch other." Taylor said still hugging me.

Daniel walked up behind us and cleared his throat.

"Kayla if i may, we have  something for you" I turn to look at him seeing his hands behind his back, then he brings his hands around to reveal a brand new iPhone 8.

"I'll stare dumbfounded at him for a second before I start to jump up and down in joy.
"OMG THANK YOU JOEY!! THANK YOU DANIEL!! I LOVE IT!"
When I finally stop jumping I tenderly opened the box and squeal like a little girl when I see the actual phone and ask Taylor for her number. She writes it down and gives me the piece of paper.

"Thanks Tay, I'll text you when I get home." I say as I bring her into another hug.

"Ok talk to you later then" Taylor says as she hugs back

As we were driving to Joey and Daniel's home, my home now, we made small talk. Them asking what I like to do for fun, how I ended up in the orphanage,  things like that.

When they ask how I ended up in the orphanage I fall silent and my smile turns into a frown.

Joey looks at me in the rearview mirror while driving and says "Kayla if your not ready to talk -" I cut him off with my words
"No, I'm fine really" I take a deep breath before continuing as the memories came flooding back to my brain
"I was 6 years old when I was sent to live in the orphanage becuse my parents died in a car accident, a drunk driver ran a stop light n ramed into the driver's side causing the car to roll over landing upsidedown, killing them both instenly." I pause as I hold back the tears. "My grandparents had died 2 years before, different months but the same year. The uncle I do have blames me for my parents death and want nothing to do with me. I don't have any relieves other than him so I was sent to the orphanage."
I manage to choke out the last few words as the tears start to come, just as we pull up to my new home.
They both turn to look at me in the backseat, looking red eyes themselves from my story.
Joey breaks the silence by saying "Kayla I'm so sorry for you loss, I know we won't replace your parents and we arn't tring to by any means, but I swear to you that we'll do our best to give you the teen years you deserve."
Daniel nods his head in agreement.
When he says that, I know I'll be happy here, that this is where I belong.
