Chapter 20 - Telling Daniel

An Hour Later
Joey's POV

I hear Daniel's car in the drive way before he even comes through the front door.

"Hey sweetie, is Kayla home yet?" Daniel asks as he sets the grosheries on the counter.

"Yea. And we need to have a chat with her" I say as I come over to help him put the items that he had bought away.

"Oh? About what?" He asks clearly confused.

I turn to him and sigh "Taylor had walked home from school with her, and while Kayla was in her room she told me that she had caught Kayla cutting herself in the girls bathroom at school"

He stops from putting the bread in the breadbox that's on the counter and slowly turns around to face me. "Are you serious?" He asks as he sets the bread down on the counter while I nod.

"OK let's go to her room I guess" he says not even bothering to put the rest of the grosheries away as he walks up the stairs with me on his heals.

Kayla's POV

I'm sitting on my bed scrolling through Instagram when I get the notification that somebody direct messaged me.

It was somebody from school

Username; hey slut, do us all a favor and go kill yourself. The world would be better with one less slutty ass bitch like you.

I feel the tears prick at my eyes as I chuck my phone across the room and ran to my bathroom. I throw open the drawer that I had hidden the razer blade in and bring it out.

I hear two sets of footsteps coming up the stairs as I put the cool metal to my wrist. I don't even hesitate to make the cut this time. The only difference between now and this morning is this time, I'm slowly pulling the blade across my wrist, letting the relief wash over me as the tears continue to fall.

"Kayla, come out here. We need to talk about this" I hear Daniel say as I rush to wash away the blood before tossing the blade back into the drawer and slamming it shut.

I attempt to wrap up the cut before going out to meet them, but the door to my bathroom opens just as I'm about to finnish.

I don't even look up at them as I hear them gasp. "Kayla....why?" I hear Daniel wisper as Joey gently grabs my hand and guides me over to my bed where we all sit down, me in the middle and them on eat her side of me.

It's a moment of silence before Daniel says "What are they saying about you Kayla?" I don't even look at him but instead point across the room where my phone lays on the floor. Daniel gets up and goes to pick it up. He turns it on to see the direct message was still on the now shattered screen. He reads it and I hear him take a surprised gasp before handing the phone to Joe so he can read it.

"Oh my God" is all Joey says before turning to hug me tightly yet gently. Daniel sits back down and joins in the hug while the tears prick at my eyes.

"I'm sorry guys. I really am......" I wisper as they release me from the hug. "We know, but maybe it's best if we home schooled you for the rest of the school year" I look up at them and sigh.

"Yea, let's try that" I say, making them chuckle a little which makes me giggle.

"Well well leave you to yourself now. Try to get some sleep Kayla. We'll see you in the morning" Joey says as he stands up along with Daniel who hands me my shattered phone back. I plug it in to charge before laying down.

I'm just about to fall asleep when my phone dings. I sigh as I sit up and look to see who messaged me. It was a boy from school, Camden. I look to see what he wrote.

Camden: Hey...

Kayla: look, if your just going to bully me some more then don't bother.

Camden: No I'm not. I swear. I just wanted to tell you...I never believed those rumors about you being a whore or a slut. I think that you were raped and the people at school just missunderstood you. In fact, I think your kinda pretty....

Kayla: Really?

Camden: Of corse!

Kayla: Th-thank you

Camden: Well, I mean it's the truth. Lol. On a more serious note, now I'm not trying to be mean when I ask this but....arent you the girl that was adopted my Joey Graceffa and his boyfriend?

Kayla: Yea, is there an issue with the fact that I have two gay men as my parents?

Camden: No. I don't have anything against the gay community. My little brother is actually a fan of Joey. In fact he told me the other day that he was bisexual himself. I think Joey inspired him to come out to me.

Kayla: Oh, that's nice.

Camden: yea, hey are you going to school tomorrow?

Kayla: No. I'm going to be home schooled for the rest of this year. Maybe I'll go back next school year.

Camden: oh ok. Maybe we could be friends?

Kayla: yea, I'd like that. Thanks Camden.

Camden: np! Ttyl?

Kayla: lol yea. Ttyl.
