Sam holds my hand as we make our way down the hall. And to be honest, I'm glad she is. After everything that had happened with Kye my body is shaking and it is hard to keep moving. Tears burn my eyes but I push on for my friends. After all, they are the ones in the most danger because of what I did.
Surprisingly the hallway isn't exactly the same as the rest of the house. The carpets go from a red and gold colour like something royal, to an icy blue and light gold. I instantly think of Kye and my heart feels heavy.
"We need to stop." I gasp as my knees nearly give out on me.
Sam takes one look at my face and nods quickly before pulling me into the closest door she could find. I don't know if the others followed me in, but I tumbled into a shiny white bathroom and threw up the last of my breakfast into the toilet bowl.
Finally, after I finished gagging, I step out of the bathroom bent over myself as the pain in my stomach begins to subside.
"How are you feeling?" Sam One asks as I stumble to the bed, her voice is soft, concerned.
"I'm sorry you guys had to see that..." I groan as I look into their worried faces.
"Don't worry about it," Aidan says placing a hand on my back, "After everything that guy said to you we can't blame you for freaking out. To be honest, when he had me pinned to the wall I felt like I might be sick."
I look into their faces and notice that they too look like they might be sick. This is a situation that has everyone scared, not just me. And worst of all, they are the ones who are in danger from that man and it's all my fault.
"I'm so sorry you guys," I bow my head in defeat, "You guys are in this mess because of me. If I had just done what that jerk had asked..."
"NO!" Four voices answered at once.
"You can't!" Quinn shouts.
"There is no way we will let you let that jerk turn you into a vampire!" Aidan says.
"Look," Sam Two says calmly placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder, "This guy is bad for everyone. If you gave in to him, we would still be in the same situation. I don't trust him, and you shouldn't either. We will figure a way out of this, together."
My eyes water as I look into the confident gazes of my new friends. They know what the danger is, and yet they still want to help me. Me! Someone they barely even know! They are doing so much for me, and all I have done is cause them pain.
"Come on," Sam One says softly, "Let's get moving. We need to be as far away from those beasts so we can make plans and try to figure out what to do."
I nod in unison with the others and we move from the room. I check first to make sure there is nothing waiting for us in the hall before we move on towards the back of the house. Of course we have no idea what lies ahead, but we know it can't be much scarier than what lies behind us.
As we walk I find the silence almost unbearable. I want to know what the others are thinking. The tension is like a thick fog that hangs over us, because we know nothing of what we might find at the end of the hallway.
I open my mouth to say something when I hear something that makes me stop. There is a rustling coming from within one of the rooms to my left. It sounds like a mouse in the wall, but it's a little louder and coming from just behind the door.
"Guys, there's something there." I say when it's obvious they don't hear it.
"Does it sound like one of the monsters?" Sam One asks as she comes to take a look at the door.
