Hospitals were not fun, specially if you're on your own. My sister has school as well as my friends, my parents had work and I had a phone and slow wifi, so basically nothing. luckily the heart monitor was disconnected so I didn't go completely crazy with the constant beeping.
Autumn had packed a bag with treats, books, my laptop, my chargers and earphones, which my father brought over for me which I was thankful for since I could at least read or do some homework but still was relatively boring. I'd rather be at home, at least I had tv and fast wifi.
As hours blurred together lunch time soon came up, I didn't really like any of the food that the hospital served, it all tasted as bland as it looked. I was surprised to see Callum walk through the door, 2 bag of Taco Bell in his hands. He looked alright apart from a split lip that was a little swollen and a black eye, he was wearing the usual attire that he wore to work at the gym. Sweat pants and a graphic shirt.
"You look like shit" he muttered handing me a bag, and sitting down on one of the chairs. I chuckled, raising an eyebrow at him. "I didn't go to school today" He explained dumbly.
"I noticed Captain Obvious" I replied opening the bag to look inside."What's the damage?" Callum asked, taking out his taco and fries. "Concussion, fractured ribs and a wreaked car. You?" I answered picking up the taco, examining the contents, it was my usual order. "A few more bruises, a few less friends" he muttered, annoyance flashing in his eyes.
"You called those twats your friends?" I blurted out, mentally kicking my self, I don't have a filter sometimes I swear. He glared at me, which I probably deserved, "you do know they talked shit about you every time you turned your back" I confessed taking a bite, as I watched confusion spread over his face. I guess not then.
"Your friends didn't hesitant to punch you a few times yesterday. Your friends didn't hesitate getting you suspended for a food fight you weren't apart of last year. Your friends never thought twice before opening their mouths about your mother, father and personal details" I said, the whole school knows about his mother who died in childbirth along with his baby sister and about his fear of storms.
The look on Callum's face was pure anger and betrayal as he stared at his feet. I felt sorry for him, it's never nice to hear your friends betrayed your trust, I would think Callum would know that they were a bunch of high class blabber mouths, obviously his so called friends were sneaker then one could assume.
Eating was in silence, Callum obviously was mulling over his past friendships. I thought it was obvious, you just had listen in to their conversation when one turned their back, they all were jealous of each other, there was no loyalty between the group. Just fake smiles and empty friendships.
"I'm sorry I hurt you" I blurted out, feeling slightly guilty at the betrayed expression, my intention was to thank him and apologise for falsely accusing him not bitch about his friends. He looked up at me with a raised eyebrow, confusion filling his features.
"I jumped to conclusions yesterday and assumed you were apart of it. I'm sorry for that and being a little rough" I said guilty, I'm not a violent person by any means, my temper got the best of me yesterday.
"Don't apologise, I would of done the same. Joel mentioned he was going to mess with your car a few days ago, I just didn't think he was serious, I figured he was pissed off about being off the field and if he was, I was thinking some spray paint or he'd slash a tire maybe but not completely trash your car" Callum muttered shaking his head.
