~Chapter 13~
I groaned, throwing another set of clothes out onto my bed. I couldn’t find anything nice to wear and it was starting to annoy me! I was looking high and low in my wardrobe for something to wear! Sam said to wear something casual and my sort of casual is jeans and a hoodie.
Mum had tried to convince me to wear a dress but the idea was shut down immediately. I hate dresses!
Three quarters of an hour later, I had straitened my white/blonde hair and was wearing a loose white shirt that went a bit above my mid-thigh, a leather jacket covered it and I had black skinny jeans on. I had my light blue Vans on with a few of my Jay-Jay bands around my wrist.
Mum popped her head into my doorway when I was ready. “Oh, did Penny tell you? She’s going to go and stay at... What was her name again... Her neighbour’s place... Sandra? No. Sarah... no...”
“Susan?”
“Yeah! That’s the one! She’s staying there for a bit, she didn’t want to be a burden for us anymore or something. I told her it was fine but she wanted to stay there. She’ll be going there after school tomorrow and staying here tonight. How do you know her anyway?”
“She’s a werewolf.” I shrugged nonchalantly. “She’s also Jarred’s mate. She’s very nice and good friends with Penny.” My phone started to ring on the bed, I looked at mum before answering it. “Hello?”
“Hey beautiful.” I heard mum ‘aaww’ and I shut the door in her face and locked it. She chuckled before walking off down the hall, muttering something about making dinner.
“Hey, what’s up?” I chirped, checking my reflection in the mirror one more time before heading down stairs.
“I was just letting you know that I’ll be at your house in about ten minutes, okay?”
I swallowed the lump in my throat before replying. “Sure, I will see you soon then. Sorry, I have to go; I have to do a few things before you get here.”
“Okay, cool. I will see you soon then. Bye.” And with that, he hung up. I was so trapped in my thoughts that I didn’t even see the person that was standing in front of me until I ran into them. “Woops, sorry, I didn’t see you there.” I muttered and looked up into a pair of grey eyes, causing me to freeze on the spot.
“That’s okay.” Then recognition flashed across his dark grey eyes. “Why hello there-“ He was cut off by the deep and stern voice of my father.
“Harrison.” The man, Harrison, turned to face father. “This is my daughter, Brodie, she is the future Alpha of this pack.” My dad said proudly? Did I hear him correctly? I was too shocked to notice his hand wrap around my shoulder and pull me back a bit but subtly.
I didn’t move though, he made me feel safe from Harrison who gave me a strange feeling as he stared at me, also giving me a look of surprise. “Well hello there, Brodie.” He held out his hand for me and I was about to grab it when my phone rang.
“Oh, sorry, I have to take this.” I mumbled, shrugging out of father’s arm. “Hello?” I answered while walking into the kitchen to find mum and Penny talking with each other.
“Hey, I’m out the front now.” Sam said calmly into the phone.
“Okay, see you in a minute.” I replied and hung up. “I’m going now mum. I’ll see you later.”
“Where are you going?” Penny piped up. I looked at her and tried to think of something without having to tell her the truth...
“She’s going to have dinner with her Aunty and Cousin.” Mum spoke up from behind Penny, but not looking away from the vegetables she was cutting up.
