Max's POV:
Everyone is waiting for me in the mess hall.
The moment I walk in, everyone's eyes are on me. I start to feel anxious and nervous but Leo gives my hand a soft squeeze of reassurance. I sit down next to him by everyone else, who are all watching me intently.
"Well, Max? Setrákus Ra is dead. What should we do now?" John asks me. I stay silent for a few seconds, thinking this over. I actually have no idea what we're going to do now. The Mogadorian army is still out there, hunting us down. I only slowed them down by causing that 'next leader' argument.
"We just have to kill the rest of the remaining Mogs. We'll figure everything out after that," I answer, trying to keep my voice from shaking. I'm honestly terrified of what I did. I was in shock before, but now all of the realization is hitting me over and over again like a boomerang.
I killed Setrákus Ra. He's dead, gone. The leader of the Mogadorians and cause of this entire war is gone.
The only thing that concerns me is that Pittacus Lore had Ximic, the legacy to copy other legacies. John has that, but I don't.
"One thing I want to talk about is that Pittacus Lore had Ximic. I don't have that legacy, but John does," I tell everyone, aiming it at the Cêpans.
"Well, we originally presumed that only one Garde had the power to kill Setrákus Ra- the Garde that got Pittacus Lore's legacies. I guess we were wrong," Crayton replies and I let that sink in. So I'm not Pittacus Lore and any of the other Garde could've killed Setrákus Ra. The Cêpans just made us think only one of us could do it.
"Well then, the only question that remains is: how are we going to kill the rest of the Mogs?" Nine asks us and no one responds. No one knows the answer to that. I killed a lot of the Mogs from the explosion in Chicago, but another one of those and someone's definitely going to die, and there are still hundreds of Mogs out there.
"What if we get the government to help us?" Six suggests.
"The government were helping the Mogs, though," John points out and Six shrugs her shoulders.
"That's because they thought the Mogs wanted peace. Now they know what the Mogs really want. They'll help us to defeat the rest of them," Six replies. I nod my head in agreement and everyone else also look convinced that this will work.
"And I could summon the legion, they can help in this war, too," Reyna offers but I automatically object.
"No, this is our war. We don't want any more demigods being put in danger for this," I reply. Reyna hesitates but nods her head.
"So a few of us will go to wherever the government is strongest and convince them to help us fight against the Mogadorians. And we should go fast. The arguing won't last much longer," John tells us.
"Max? Who're you going to bring?" Annabeth asks me and I furrow my brows.
"I don't think I should go..." I start but Annabeth cuts me off.
"They might want to talk to the person who killed the Mogadorian leader," Annabeth points out. I hesitate, thinking this over. After a few moments I just nod my head then look around at everyone else.
"I'll bring anyone who wants to come," I announce and Leo automatically steps up.
"I'll come," he says. I give him a small smile before turning back to everyone else.
"Anyone else?" I question.
"Jason and I will come, too," Piper replies. I nod my head at her then turn back to Six.
