Max's POV:

Nine and I blast the bars off the cell together with telekinesis and they go flying across the hall. I grab Nine's hand and turn us invisible, then we race towards the pilots room. Which, with our amazing luck, is guarded by tons of Mog soldiers, easily outnumbering Nine and I twenty to one.

Nine and I stop in our tracks. I look up and notice that there's at least forty feet from the ground to the ceiling. I squeeze Nine's hand a bit and call out to him telepathically.

Hold on, and don't make a sound.

Why? What are you going to do?

I don't respond. Instead, I grab Nine and lift him into the air with my flight. Nine doesn't make any noises, thankfully, and I fly us both inside the pilot's room. I look at the window and realize that the glass is back on.

Alrighty. Guess I'll have to break it again.

I dive right into the glass, holding Nine tighter, and shatter the window as I fly us out. The Mogs in the pilot's room and guarding it in the hall shout in surprise but they still can't see us. I fly quickly away from the Anubis when I realize that this warship is done for. There's no one here to take away my legacies and I don't want this ship to stand any longer.

I look down and notice that we're flying right above a forest. I fly down and land Nine and I. I turn us visible again and stare at Nine with a confident, determined look.

"Alright, Nine. I need you to stay here, okay?" I ask him and he looks confused.

"What? Where are you going?" Nine asks me, his brows knit together in confusion.

"I'm going to check if anyone else is on the Anubis, then I'm going to get rid of it," I explain quickly then start to fly back to the ship. Nine grabs my wrist and pulls me back.

"Max, no. I'm not letting you go alone," Nine tells me, giving me a protective look.

"I'm just going to check the rooms for anyone else then take the keys from the ignition. I'll be quick, I promise," I reply. Nine stares at me for a little while longer before shaking his head.

"I am not letting you get hurt again, Max," Nine says firmly. I sigh and drop my arms and Nine lets out a relived sigh, letting go of my arm.

"Okay, we have to get out of he-"

I don't let him finish. Muttering a short apology, I quickly shove him away from me and bolt back to the Anubis with my flight. Nine calls after me but he can't stop me, and there's no way he'll be able to get on without turning himself in.

I turn invisible and enter the warship through the broken window, and there are a ton more Mogadorians there, investigating it. I try to sneak in but my legacies are quickly drained. I turn visible again and drop to the floor. The Mogs all turn to me and smirk, then aim their weapons at me. I quickly come up with a plan and just smile at them, then see the one and only Bryce FREAKING Lawrence stepping out from the horde of Mogs.

"Hello again, Max. Turns out, this-" he holds out the Xitharis stone again. "Wasn't charged with resurrection?"

I stay completely silent. Hopefully Nine is somewhere safe, hiding from the Mogs. Hopefully he trusts me and has faith in me.

Cause I have literally no faith in myself whatsoever.

"Where's Number Nine?" Bryce asks me, smirking again. I shake my head.

"Gone. I left him. Why do you think I'm back here?" I ask him in a forced cheerful tone. He looks confused at my sudden bright attitude towards them.

"Left him?" Bryce questions.

"For dead, dummy," I bluff, saying it as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. The Mogs behind Bryce look amused. Bryce raises an eyebrow at me but he definitely looks wary.

"Don't lie to me, Jackson. You wouldn't do that. You charged the stone so he wouldn't get tortured," Bryce points out, his hand slowly inching for the Mogadorian sword in his sheath.

I said before that Nine couldn't and wouldn't get on the Anubis after me, but I know better.

I chuckle at Bryce, which startles him. "You don't realize what I'm doing, do you?" I ask him, a smile on my face. Bryce is frozen in confusion. "I'm distracting you, idiot."

And Nine grabs a Mogs' sword and starts killing them off one by one. Bryce looks stunned but his startled face quickly turns into a scowl as he glares at Nine. He unsheathes his Mogadorian sword and is about to charge at Nine when I grab a Mog blaster from the ground and bang it against his head as hard as I can. He's automatically knocked out and I can feel my legacies returning again.

I shoot at all the Mogs around me, quickly helping Nine disintegrate all of them.

When we kill off the last remaining Mogs, I put the Anubis on hover mode before turning back to Nine, who's glaring at me like a disappointed parent. I smile innocently at him.

"I love you," I tell him. He sighs in an exasperated tone then places his hand on my shoulder and drives me out of the pilot's room. I turn us both invisible again and we search the whole Anubis, each room and each cell, but we can't find anyone else. I sigh in relief, thankful that no one else has been captured, and Nine and I head back to the pilot's room, where Bryce is still sprawled on the ground, unconscious. Nine glares at him with a disgusted look on his face.

"What should we do with him?" Nine asks me and I shake my head.

"I don't know," answer honestly. I don't want to kill him while he's knocked out. That's a bit too cruel. Besides, I don't want to kill anymore demigods.

"I know what to do with him," a warm, soft voice calls from behind. It's a male voice, obviously Mogadorian. It's unfortunately familiar and I almost throw up at the sound of it.

I whip around and see a tall, true-born Mogadorian standing in the doorway of the pilot's room. My heart drops into my stomach and I feel sick just looking at him. I stumble backwards but Nine catches my arm and helps me stand straight again, a concerned look on his face.

"Are you okay, Max?" He asks me but his voice sounds distant and far-away. I don't answer him, instead staring at the Mog soldier in front of us. He looks the same as I remember- messy, pitch black hair and ink black eyes. He looks and seems soft and welcoming, but I know his true nature.

"Who are you?" Nine asks the Mog cautiously, gripping his Mog sword tightly.

"Remo Helmer," Remo answers and I can feel every bit of torture done on me by this one Mogadorian all at once. (Pronounced like Reh-mow, not ree-mow.)

I shake my head. I killed him. I know that I killed him. Apparently in this world, people don't stay dead for very long.

But this time, he'll stay dead. I'll make sure of it.
