Who Knew...

Chapter 7

"Yess!!", I screamed out. Ma and Jasmine turned around, their eyes glaring at me. It felt like time froze.

"Oh-I...uh", I froze staring at them.  Then we all just broke out laughing.

"Ohhh Poonam, what goes on in that head of yours?!", Ma joked.

"He-he" I said nervously. Shoot that was too close..
I look out the window, I always hear of people admiring the sunset. I honestly think it is overrated.  I notice the clouds, something I have never bothered to fully admire. Something about it looks different.  Clouds are a fascinating concept. It holds water and changes to rain, hail and snow.

I heard a faint sound.  It grew louder and clearer. It was someone crying. I couldn't see anything..where am I? I tried to look down at my hands. Pitch darkness. I couldn't even see a silhouette.  The crying became louder and louder.  Suddenly I hear a loud sound...something quick enough to cause a sound in the air. I hear it again..
I shot my head up, I felt my eyes widen as I realized what the sound was..it was the sound a whip or a lash against flesh.
A spotlight apeared to my left. I shot my head towards the light and I see someone with ripped jeans bent down on their knees hovering with his back exposed. His back had strips of flesh missing, blood trickling down from the wounds.  His tan muscles, each and every muscle defined, it hurt me to see such a perfect body wounded.  I saw an article of clothing next to him that appeared to be his shirt. I take a step forward..I found my knees were trembling.. I take another step forward and felt myself falling..

I jolt awake. Inhaling and exhaling deeply. Jasmine next to me was holding my shoulders shaking me, "Hey, you okay?"
I see her face but my eyes didn't seem to focus for a while. I finally come to my senses.
"Yo we got to your house, let's go inside, your mom went in to go make dinner."
I get out of the car, close the door and follow Jasmine to the front door and walk into my house.

I jolt as the cold water shoots out of the shower. I turn it to adjust it.
I stood there with my head down my hair hanging in front of me, letting the water flow down to the very ends and watched as the water droplets fell..I was falling..who was he?

"Honey aren't you going to eat?"  I looked up from my plate to my mom, I didn't realize I was just playing with my food. Uh how rude could I be.."Sorry mom..I just..I'm just tired that's all"
"Alright.."  She looked worried. Jasmine also looked over to me from her plate, wondering what was bothering her.

"Goodnight mom"
"Goodnight Mrs.Kapoor!"
Jasmine and I walked up the stairs to my room.  Jasmine crashes onto my bed, and grabbed my big furry teddy bear and starts hugging it squealing with excitement.   She looks over to me and her smile fell off.  She looked serious.  "Hey, what's wrong, you look a little off.."

"Huh" I totally zoned off again, I turned to her, "Huh, what..um I'm fine! I must be a little tired, that's all!"  I tried to force a smile, I didn't want to dissappoint her after having her over for a sleepover.  She comes closer to me, " Is it about Alejandro?"

I shot my head up, my eyes wide open in disbelief. Did she know?, I thought to myself??  Oh no how long has she known..shoot. "AHAAHAHA" Jasmine burst out laughing and fell on her back with her feet in the air, dying of laughter.  "Hey what, what do you mean??" I asked. 

"Did you really think I didn't notice, wow how dumb do you think I am? LMAO I got into HUC after all"

I felt my cheeks turning red and finally admitted it, "Yes, I like your brother, Alejandro" 

Jasmine started cracking up laughing again"BAHAHAHA, you have a crush on my brother" She started teasing me and kept singing, "You have a crush on my brother, you have a crush on my brother la la la"

I just ended up laughing too.

Jasmine fell asleep, so I turned off the lights.  I layed down and stared up at the ceiling. Suddenly the scene of Rahul and I at the bathroom came to mind.  That sparkle in his eyes..I have never seen something like that before.......... 

What am I doing? I put my hand to my forehead and I closed my eyes.
