(y/n)'s pov

it had felt like months since we last spoke (everyone @ my book sorry for the lack of updates guyss), or at least had a conversation that felt as if it meant more than just breaking the intense silence we often faced when we were together. I didn't talk to Jack a lot like I used to either, or Sophia. But mainly the loss of Jack was hurting. He didn't talk to me anymore mainly because he's too obsessed with a girl named Kaala. She's sweet, she's pretty (y'all better not come for her because she's literally amazing, don't test me. I love my gal Kaala a lot) and she's hilarious. I'm happy he found someone like her, but it's just a big loss. Jaeden and Noah have been acting weird with me, and I'm guessing it's because of Finn and I. So really the only people I was close with was Sadie, Caleb and Wyatt. They made time for me, which was nice if you take into consideration how much time everyone hadn't been making for me recently. I know there was tension in the group, but there's nothing I can do about it when Finn is kissing literally every girl with a pulse, and I'm sure that's the bare minimum he has been up to with them.

Sometimes I catch him staring at me, shooting me glances and even smirking at me. He sends mixed signals, so I have no idea what he wants from me. It's difficult to wrap my head around. I often found myself in trances due to thinking about it too much, which was obviously what was happening right now as I felt a hand shake my shoulder, dragging me out of my thoughts.

"(y/n)!" Caleb chuckled as Sadie tried to grab my attention from the other side of our booth at the diner. I looked at her with a confused stare before she began talking. "you okay?" she asked concerned, I smiled and put my hand on the table, she engulfed mine under hers and squeezed my hand gently. A smile spread across her face.

"I'm fine, Sades. Thank you." I smiled and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear before looking at the menu, looking at the extensive range of food they had to offer.

Not. If you didn't like burgers, fries or milkshakes? this wasn't the place for you. I decided upon a cheeseburger and fries with a (favourite flavour) milkshake and patiently waited for the waitress or waiter to take our order. Eventually, a girl came over to our table from the door with a 'STAFF ONLY' sign on it, pulling her skirt down and fixing her messed up hair. I rolled my eyes.

"what can I get you guys?" she asked, earning a smile from... None of us.

"a cheeseburger, fries and (favourite flavour) milkshake please." I looked at her as she took note of it, then looking to Sadie and Caleb as they gave her their order.

The 'STAFF ONLY' labelled door opened, revealing a tall boy with black hair walking out. It was curly.
he was beautiful.
he was Finn.

He looked to our table as he ruffled his hair in his hand, smiling at Sadie and Caleb and having a guilty look upon his face when his eyes stumbled across my own glossy ones at the sight. He walked over to our table, and the girl walked away. Not before winking at Finn and obviously trying to impress him, but she walked away none the less.

"Hey, guys." Finn smiled, the only seat at our booth was next to me. And I sure hope he had no intention of sitting with us.

Unfortunately, he did. He carefully made a space between us and didn't look at me once as he sat. He mainly talked to Caleb, who had already made it clear he "wasn't down for any of this drama shit", so he would stay friendly with everyone. Sadie glared at him a few times, but mainly ensured I was okay as I sat in the red leather seat with my pouted lip out.

"have fun fucking her, Finn?" Sadie snarled, enough had been enough for her. I kicked her shin gently, and raised both of my eyebrows at her snide remark. It's not as if it wasn't funny, but I didn't want Finn to think I had to get other people involved in our life. Sadie winced gently, and Finn's eyes were drawn to me as if he knew I had done something to defend him.

"fuck you Sadie." he stated harshly, and I glared at him coldly.

"don't talk to her like that, dickface." I snarled back at him, and he looked at me shocked I had stepped up to him. He stared into my eyes, it seemed as if he didn't know if he wanted to scream at me or kiss me. There was a lot of tension in that booth, but I couldn't draw my eyes from his.

"this is so shitty of you, (y/n)!," he lost it, but didn't stop staring into my eyes. He grabbed my wrist but not hard enough to actually hurt me. "come with me." he demanded, and I looked to him in shock. I didn't know what was happening

and I didn't know if I loved him or hated him.
