(y/n)'s pov

I sat in the booth, staring at Caleb and Sadie as tears swelled in my eyes. I felt as if I was at my lowest point, as if my whole world was crumbling and my head was frayed whenever I thought about the whole situation with Finn. I didn't know how he felt, because he always showed mixed emotions towards me.

some days he would act as if I was the only
girl in the world
other days he would act as if I was just another one of his girls.

"you good, (n/n)?" Caleb asked, raising an eyebrow. In that moment I felt the tears that were swelled in my eyes stream down my cheeks. Sadie dabbed them away with a napkin that was on the table before and handed it to me, looking into my eyes. "it's okay not to be okay." She added, I looked at her and smiled subtly, she quickly returned it and grazed her hand against my own.

Finn's pov

I sat in Jacks house for a while with him and Kaala before leaving, I just needed a break and the way to go about it seemed like just sitting with them for an hour or so before I went back to the diner to see if I could find (y/n) anywhere.

no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't put off my feelings forever. I had to tell (y/n) exactly how I felt before it was too late or I knew I would regret it.

when I reached the diner, I looked into the window and seen her sitting alone. It was sad, she just sat looking at her hands and twiddling her fingers. It brought me to my worst point as I imagined how upset she was due to my selfishness.

She looked up, tucking her beautiful (h/c) [hair colour] hair behind her ear. She didn't dare to take her eyes off of me for a moment, and I didn't dare to even blink when I was taking in the expression of sadness and confusion on her face. She clearly sniffled, and then looked down at the table she was sitting at. Alone.

it pained me to see her alone in such a sad looking state, so I opened the door, causing the bell to ring as I walked in. She looked up once again, looking at me. I stopped. I waited to see if she would move, but she just gave an unexpected soft smile and then looked down at the table again. I ordered two milk shakes and then sat down at the booth with her. She looked up, and we sat in silence as it seemed as if my presence was enough comfort for her at the moment. I placed my hand over hers, causing her eyes to light up and she looked at me with a light blush spread across her cheeks. I smiled and waited for her to be in a place where I could confess to her.

The waitor (?) came over with the two milkshakes. Both were (favourite flavour). She smiled softly and gave a slight chuckle that filled me with delight to hear. He quickly walked away from the booth, and I slid a milkshake over to her side of the table. She took the straw out of her drink and placed it in my own, and I smiled. She wanted to share it. She never said she did, but I knew she really wanted everything to be okay with us. She had no idea how much this moment meant to me, or how much she meant to me..
