SIX || pleaser
The next morning Luna Bakken woke up feeling less tired than the night before. Maybe it was because she slept completely through the night without waking up once, which was a miracle in itself, or maybe it was because she was actually starting to feel like she was making friends at the Olympics.
When it came to the topic of friends, Luna had always had a small group of friends back home, but the only person she truly felt a connection to was Hedwig. She trusted her more than anyone and she felt safe around her. She felt the exact same way about Alex Shibutani as well, but that feeling of safety was something extremely rare to Luna. So needless to say, she was stunned when she felt the same feeling when she was playing Uno with Nathan, Shoma, Yuzuru, Maia, Alex, and Karen.
Four of those six people she had met only a mere week or so ago, yet it was like she had known them her entire life. The laughter and happiness came easily and as a result, Luna was finally starting to feel like she belonged at the Olympics.
Especially when she talked to Nathan Chen.
Nathan just possessed a sweet and laid-back personality, which allowed Luna to feel at ease around him. Whether they were just playing Uno like last night or messaging each other through Instagram, everything came naturally. There was no fear of being judged or ridiculed. Just words of support and encouragement.
And that was a strange feeling to her.
Due to certain people that have passed through her life, it was hard to feel comfortable around anyone. Luna was always afraid that if she got close to someone they would take advantage of her; however, Nathan was totally different and the blonde couldn't wrap her head around why. What made the dark-haired boy so special?
Luna was pulled from her thoughts as she heard footsteps running up beside her in the snow. She turned to see none other than Nathan Chen who was definitely not dressed right for the cold conditions. As he reached her, she was surprised to see him dressed only in a Nike hoodie and sweatpants.
"Nathan, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice filled with amusement.
"I- I wanted to w- wish you luck during your p- practice today," Nathan replied, the palms of his hands pressed against his knees as he tried to regain his breath. "I would watch you, but I have a training session to attend myself."
Luna raised her eyebrows at the boy in front of her. "For someone dubbed as the quad king, you certainly seem to have no stamina."
Nathan rolled his eyes before running a hand through his hair and straightening up. "One, I literally ran all the way out here from the skating rink, so sorry if I'm a bit winded. Two, trust me, my stamina is better than you can ever begin to imagine."
The dark-haired boy's eyes widened at his choice of words and his face turned a bright red color. "I think that came out with a different meaning than I intended."
