So, it's my second day at CHB and I finally get to learn how to put my aunt's sword to use. I was going against my new friend and distant relative, Marcus.
"Okay, watch exactly where the sword is going so that you can block it. If you see an opening to strike, take it" Marcus explained
"Okay let's start" I said
I thought of my aunt's ring turning into a sword. SHEENG! There it is. He started easy-ish. He stroked, I parried. We kept going slow. Then Marcus started going faster. I saw an opportunity to strike, so I did. Marcus saw it coming and blocked it.
"Okay, let's do a real fight now" Marcus said
"Mkay" I said nervously
We started fighting. He got me in the arm and that weakened me. We kept going. I tried to get his sword out of his hand, but he anticipated that and blocked it. I didn't see it coming when he did the same thing to me and my sword clattered to the ground. It turned back into a ring. I ran and put it back on. Marcus splashed water on his face, so I did the same thing to look cool. I suddenly felt strength and energy. The fresh cut on my arm healed and I felt like I could do anything.
"Let's go again!" Marcus said
"I'm ready"
I went really fast and striked a lot. Marcus started to get worried. I made him think that I was going to strike to the left and then I hit his sword and it fell to the ground. I was instantly drained and my arm got sore.
"Wow! Let's try that again!" Marcus said
First strike, I was out.
"What happened?" Marcus asked
"I don't know. I got drained, like if the water is what helped me" I said
"Makes sense. That's what happened to your dad the first time he learned"
"Why does everyone know my dad better than I do?"
"He probably thought that if he kept it a secret, monsters wouldn't know about you until later"
"Well it didn't work"
"At least you're better than your dad was then"
"Thanks"
Marcus put his fingers on his temples and shut his eyes.
"What's wrong?" I asked urgently
"Mr. D is calling me to the Big House. I guess training is over for today"
Marcus left the arena and walked towards the big house. I left the arena to go to my monster identification class. It was really interesting...and scary. Then I went to archery. I'm pretty good at it. I almost got a bull's eye for all of them. The few Apollo kids that were there were impressed. Then I went to music class, where we learned to play Lost in Transit by a son of Apollo named Cris Gonzalez. I had no idea he was a demigod! This dude is amazing! And super famous! I was pretty good at harmonies, and handy with a guitar. I even played the super hard solo. Anyway, I next went to the pegasus stables and got fond of a pegasus named Bluejean. She was so cool. I was so close to her that it felt like I knew what she was saying.
Because you do know what I'm saying she said in my mind.
Wait, I can talk to horses? I asked in my mind
Yes, and I love cookies. Okay now let me talk you through this. You don't need a saddle on pegasi. Just climb on.
I started trying to climb onto Bluejean's back.
