Flying Sucks

"It's not like we can ride a bus to an island" I said

"What if we flew there?" Jaina asked

"I've never been in a plane before. My dad has only been on a plane three times, and every time he freaked out"

"Well he is a son of Poseidon, and he went into Zeus' domain" Diana said

"Well my mom is a daughter of Athena, do you think he's give me a break?" I asked

"I don't know"

"I would be much more comfortable if we went by sea"

"But then Cetus could get us before we find Marcus" Hector said

"Rah! Okay, we'll go on a plane. How will we get tickets?"

"We could sneak in"

"With my cap of invisibility!"

We took a cab to the airport. The first flight to Puerto Rico was at nine forty-five. It was eight twenty-three. We waited at the airport for an hour. We bought a pack of cards and played Crazy Eights. We played this until nine fifteen. Then, I put on the cap and told everybody to hold hands. I willed them to be invisible. We stood until everyone was boarded. We found four extra seats close to each other. I then took off the hat and we were visible again. No one took notice of this. Then the plane took off. Are planes supposed to be this shaky? I felt like I was going to throw up! I don't think planes are supposed to be this shaky. I looked at Diana, she looked back with an apologetic face. Hector and Jaina laughed at me. Ares kids am I right? No laughter? Okay...Anyway, I was freaking out! I have obviously inherited my dad's fear of flights. Flight's not heights. I love heights. I tried to fall asleep, but every time the plane shook, I freaked out.

Finally, in seven hours, we landed. I immediately went to the bathroom and threw up. Then I put on the cap and turned everyone invisible. We walked passed the place where you show the ticket to make sure you belonged on that flight. After we passed through that place, I took of the cap and went to the bathroom to throw up again. Diana gave me some ambrosia. It tasted like the apple pies that my mom would make. Then I had some nectar. That tasted like liquid popcorn that we would eat when we watched old movies every Saturday. So, the four of us left the airport and saw a lot of concrete that smelled like gas. As we got farther away, you could smell the salt in the air. There were a few apartment buildings. As we kept walking, we saw some casinos, a few banks, and something I'd never seen before. Palm trees. They were so funny looking. It looked like they had hair sticking up out of the trunks. It's it true that coconuts fall from them and can hit you in the head? I heard a man yell in the general direction of a palm tree about twenty feet away. I guess it is true. My estimate was that it would take approximately one hour until we would reach the ocean. Then it would probably take about forty-five minutes to get to the middle of the ocean. Plus, having the go under and find where Cetus is, hopping that we were even going in the right direction in the first place. The size of the ocean is not in our favor. Well that was optimistic.

We finally found a place that you could rent a car for a day. We payed in cash. They didn't ask for a license, which was good because none of us had one. Hector had learned how to drive, so he drove us to the coast. When we got there, there was a lady with a chihuahua. She somehow knew we weren't from Puerto Rico and told us about the place. I felt like this lady wasn't really a lady. Or maybe she was, and the dog wasn't real. I don't know what, but something weird was going on. I noticed that she was leading us farther from the water. I knew there was definitely something wrong. I willed my ring to become a sword.

"What monster are you?" I asked

"What are you doing Kara?" Diana asked

"I know there's something wrong. I don't know if it's you or the dog"

"Kara this is just a nice-"

"Bravo little demigod. I thought that I was playing the part pretty well" the lady said "However could you tell?"

"Wait, what?" Jaina asked

"You were leading us away from the ocean. Any regular person would just walk along the water" I said

"So what are you? Daughter of Athena?" the lady asked

"Sort of. It's complicated"

"I see. I honestly don't care"

"So is it you or the dog?"

"This isn't a dog. This is my new pet Chimera"

"Like the fire breathing lion thing?" Jaina asked

"Exactly" the lady said

"How did you get it?" I asked

"I heard a voice in my head. It told me to go to the ocean. To go all the way under and find him. I thought, 'Well wouldn't I drown if I tried to find you?' But he said, 'No, I will keep you alive/ come find me, I have a job for you.' So, I went to find him. He led me to him. He told me where to find the chimera and how to get it to gain my trust. After I did, it told me to wait here for any demigod who comes to save their little friend"

"So you know where Marcus is?"

"Yes, but to get that information, you will need to kill my friend here" she put her chihuahua down and it stayed there

"But it's so cute" Diana said

Then it grew into a huge lion looking thing. Then it opened it's mouth and breathed fire.

"Never mind" Diana said after seeing the chimera

"This is why you need me here!" I said
