Marcus...

"I didn't want you to know anything until you were older. I thought that it would protect you from monsters" Dad said

"That makes sense. Marcus said that was probably why you didn't tell me"

"Who's Marcus?" Mom asked

"Son of Athena. Distant brother I guess"

"You made a friend already?"

"Yeah, two"

"Who's the other one?" Dad asked

"Max" I said

"Who's his godly parent?"

"Aphrodite"

"How old?"

"My age"

"Stay away from him"

"Why? He's just a friend"

"Your mom and I were just friends and now look"

"Dad, I'm not interested"

"And he's not interested, then you give up immortality for him and soon you'll be married"

"I'm only twelve, what could possibly happen?"

"Okay..."

"Perce, you can't be that overprotective" Mom said

"You're right-hang on, what are you doing outside of camp?"

"I wanted to see you" I said

"Aww, gimme a hug"

I realized that I was still in a bathtub. I quickly got out and gave my dad a hug.

"Now go back to camp" he said

"My only friend there is Max. Marcus got a quest and will probably gone for about two weeks" I said

"Find something to do"

"You really don't want me here do you?"

"It's not that, but I want you to be safe"

"Okay...Bye!"

I stepped back into the bathtub and willed myself to be sent back to CHB, but instead of ending up in the fountain it was the beach. I saw a young Apollo girl singing and playing ukulele. Then she saw me and she tensed up like she was nervous. That is not a common character trait in Apollo kids. She had sandy colored hair and green eyes. A few freckles on her nose.

"I'm sorry I startled you" I said coming out of the water "I meant to end up in the Poseidon cabin"

"It's okay" she said in a low voice "I'm Arianna"

"I'm Kara" I help Arianna up and kept walking with her.

"What do you do other than sing?" I asked

"I like archery" she said

"I'm decent at it. How old are you?"

"Ten"

"I bet you're better at everything than me. I've only been here for two days"

"I've been here for two years"

"Wow! Do you ever get lonely?"

"Yeah, but all my friends come at summer time"

There was a bell.

"That's dinner" Arianna said

We walked to the dining pavilion. There were barely any campers. Three Aphrodite kids, two Ares kids, four Hecate kids, and five Apollo kids. After dinner I went to the Poseidon cabin, 'cause I'd be alone anyway, so I could fall asleep to the sound of trickling water.

Two weeks have passed, no Marcus. Three weeks, four weeks, no Marcus. Everybody else was back already. Chiron called everybody, all seventeen of us, to the dining pavilion.

"Marcus has been captured by Cetus. We don't know why. Probably as a trophy, we don't know. We are assigning a quest. Diana, Hector, and Jaina. You three have been chosen. Go to the Grove of Dodona for a prophecy" Chiron told us

Marcus has been captured. This is terrible! I have to go on this quest! I need to save him! Not some Ares kids and a Hecate kid who doesn't care if he survives! I am the only other relative of Athena that's here, and they need strategy and wisdom. Not war and magic! Plus, it's a sea monster. Who's a relative of Poseidon that happens to be able to breath underwater and control it? Me! I was sad and frustrated at the same time. It started to get cloudy. Then it drizzled. Wow, the weather really affects my mood. Have I mentioned that? I went to Chiron privately and said,

"I need to go in this quest"

"Why do you need to go?" Chiron asked

"That's my distant brother relative of some sort. I feel responsible. Who can breath under water to fight a sea monster? Me. Whose grandpa is Poseidon, god of the sea? Mine. They need more than war and magic. They need wisdom to. Wait a second, the goddess of wisdom is Athena which just so happens to be my grandma"

"You make a great argument. Your mother would be proud. Loyalty like no other like your father. You cannot go"

"Why not?"

"You are too young and inexperienced"

"How old were my mom and dad when they went on their first quest?"

"Twelve, but that doesn't matter. Your father had to go on that quest. Zeus demanded it. Your mother received a prophecy that said that a child of the Big Three would get her out of camp. Plus, she was training since she was seven"

"What about my aunt? Aunt Darcy?"

"Two weeks, but she was better than her dad in six years"

"I've been training two weeks longer than her! I'm starting to think that this is my dad speaking instead of you"

"It's both, but please listen to me. Don't go after Marcus"

"Okay"

I went to the Athena cabin and got all the books I could find on Cetus. There were only two, I read them that night. Perseus (that name sounds familiar) fought him. And so did Hercules. Then I tried to go to bed early. Tomorrow, Diana, Hector, and Jaina were leaving at seven. I wasn't going to miss out on this quest for the world.
