Shiro x pidge (shidge fanfic)

Ch.6

On our way out the lions mouth shiro and I curiously looked around to see if there was any life on this dwarf planet at all, taking the final steps off the lions mouth it sucked in the small ramp and returned to its normal position turning off the lights.
"Alright.. now let's see what this baby does~" shiro knelt down to look for a power button, I helped as well..
As we looked for a trigger we had confused expressions on our faces.
"Hmm...maybe..." I stood up and picked it up with me, rotating and observing it. "That's funny, usually space machines have buttons to make it work..."
Shiro took it off my hands and looked for it himself "yeah.. I didn't see anything else in the box..maybe..."
I interrupted "OR! Maybe it's already on! Here give it to me"
I snatched it out of shiros hands and had the bottom of it hover the floor. "It's light weight so I guess it's easy to look for it this way"
"How do you know you hold it like that?"
"Well it has a handle...and it's shaped like an earth vacuum...sort of. And since it's kinda like a metal detector I think we should hover it above the ground." Before I could say anything else I felt a hand grab the top of my helmet, I immediately turned around to see a smile on shiros face "glad to have you here with me pidge
I smiled back "glad to be here with you~"
~time skip~
After earth hours of searching around all we found were shards of crystals thinking it was deeper underground, a few ticks later we ended up digging a few feet finding bigger crystals. They were beautiful, then they were touched they glew. We kept a few dozen before taking a break sitting on a rock. I had a special crystal with me, it was the size of the palm of my hand, it was beautiful with exquisite patterns of pastel blue, green and a touch of pink to give it more character. from time to time it would slightly change color on its own, only the ones that were being touched. I found them fascinating. Shiro had a few favorites too not much different than mine other than the shape and size.
"What should we do with all of these...I think it'd be difficult if we take them all to the lion and back to the ship."
I thought for a second. "Well if we leave them here I'm sure they won't go anywhere.."
"Yeah your right, we can bring a few back to the ship and the rest here...this could be our little thing" he winked at me.
Holy shit he winked at me.
"Y-yeah........u-umm.."
I stuttered with my words..
"Should we head back now?..maybe allura can show us what these are and how to use these..it'd be interesting if they had some power to them."
Shiro grabbed a few more before looking back down at me then nodded. "Then..shall we go?.."

Flying back to the castle we took the long way. It was beautiful feeling the Milky Way and the stars with shiro. This whole time we were in space I never got the chance to actually enjoy the beauty and wonders of the galaxies. So much to learn about, the secret it holds and how things work. It truly is a breathtaking thing to be in the presence of.
I stood by shiro the whole time leaning onto his chair. After talking a few minutes it ends up he was a sucker for these kinds of things too.
Finally we made it back to the ship.
Hunk and lance greeted us when we came out "where have y'all been?"
"I was wondering where you were"
Shiro smiled holding a bunch of his rocks in his hand while I had my rocks in mine. I followed him from down the lions mouth into facing hunk and lance.
"Ooh we were testing this thing out and ended up finding..what ever these rocks are.." shiro grabbed one of his and handed one to both of them. Clearly by their facial expression they were fascinated by it.
"We thought they were pretty cool so we came back to ask allura or coran if they have anything special about them."
Lance kept glancing at us. "What?...." I said.
Lance smiled and shrugged. "Oh nothing....it's just that...y'all have been gone for almost the whole day.. together... a l o n e."
Hunk looked up clueless
Shiro gave him a weird face telling him to knock it off. " just because we spent time the whole day doesn't mean anything, we're partners..nothing more. Besides, we haven't really talked so I thought it was a good time to catch up on some things...."
I looked up at him, his face was expressionless. What he said did pain me a little. I was stupid to ever thinking that we would actually be anything more.. now I know how he feels about me. Atleast I didn't get my feelings hurt before having things take a step further.
Lance shrugged. "Mmmmokayyyyyyy..buddyyy"
I rolled my eyes.
