The darkness felt cool against your skin and was as refreshing as the ocean in the summer heat. Around your fingers was a warm lock that rubbed your thumb and a steady breath that depended on your waking.
Your eyes had fluttered open, to meet the immensely bright surrounding of a hospital room - an emergency room to be specific.
Your head tilted slightly towards the left in which you met eyes with Kyungsoo. He smiled warmly at you and in the moment you found the muscles in your legs reheat as if they were burning all over again.
"Your idea of burning down an entire apartment complex was a stupid one" you had laughed although it was returned as soft and breathy as your throat scratched as if you had not drank in days.
"What day is it?" You had asked, admiring the fifth floor view from your hospital bed.
"Saturday - Halloween" you heart had fallen heavy, the things you were supposed to do with him - Baekhyun - he wanted to run the town for one more night.
"Don't do that" Kyungsoo warned and your eyes snapped to meet his, they were met with an uncertain warmth that transferred into his hot skin.
"Don't overthink. The balance has been restored and as much as you question yourself, know that Baekhyun is at peace" you had stared with a questioning glance, unsure what to make of Kyungsoo's peace offering.
"I spoke to him myself. I've also spoken to Jongin. He dropped in not long ago with some flowers" you had followed Kyungsoo's gaze to the Lillie's that bloomed by your bedside.
"But they both won't be bothering you anymore, there is no need to worry" you had raised a brow only for Kyungsoo to smile endearingly at you.
"Why are you not angry with me?" You had asked puzzled. Kyungsoo only smiled before taking your hand in his two. His eyes flicked down to his fingers as they brushed your skin delicately before he continued.
"Because as crazy as you are, your my type of crazy" the world had spun silently around you as his dark eyes met yours with a new confident outlook.
"I will protect you now"
