When Luke opened his eyes one rainy Sunday morning, he felt... Different.
He was hungry, of course. But he felt so hungry, that he wanted to scream and cry. He couldn't lift his head; he could only slowly roll it from side to side. He tried to grab his favorite stuffie, Bear, but it just fell right back out of his weak little hand.
Frustrated, Luke let out a loud screech.
Michael was the first to hear it.
"Oh my God, is he hurt??" he cried as he began racing up the stairs, the other boys following suit.
"What if he fell out of his crib??" Calum exclaimed. This earned a flick to the head by Ashton.
"He can't fall out of a crib, dumbass!" Ashton snarled. "He's probably got his leg caught in the bars again!"
But, they were wrong. When Michael swung the door open, there was Luke, his face bright red with anger as he pawed at Bear. Calum rushed over to the sobbing boy and picked him up, shushing him gently and swaying from side to side.
"What's the matter, baby boy? Hmm?" Calum asked, feeling Luke's forehead to see if he had a temperature. "He feels normal."
Luke reached his arms out and made grabby hands for his bear, letting out frustrated grunts and whines. Michael cocked an eyebrow and reached into the crib, grabbing the stuffie and handing it to Luke, who wrapped his arms around it and promptly began trying to eat Bear's ear.
Ashton observed Luke's actions for a moment before a smile of realization spread across his face. "Ohhh, I think someone's extra tiny today." he said, taking Luke from Calum's arms and cradling him. Luke nuzzled into Ashton, letting out a squeak before bursting into tears again.
"Ohhh baby, shhhh..." Ashton soothed, carrying him downstairs as the other two boys followed them. "Is somebody hungry? Is that it?" he asked. Luke let out a loud cry in response.
"Okay, okay baby." Ashton cooed, handing him off to Michael as he went into the kitchen to make him a bottle. Michael sat down on the couch, letting Luke rest his head on his shoulder as he rubbed his back softly.
Ashton poured some milk into a mug, sticking it in the microwave to heat it up. He could hear Luke's cries grow louder as he became more and more impatient, and Michael cooing softly at him.
Once the microwave beeped, Ashton pulled the bottle out, adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder before attaching the lid and shaking it. He checked the temperature on his wrist to make sure it wasn't too hot before running over and handing the bottle to Michael.
"Here baby, it's right here." Michael cooed, sticking the teat of the bottle between Luke's lips. Luke's cries instantly stopped as he began to hungrily drink the milk.
Calum sat beside Michael, a fond smile on his face. "He's so cute!" he gushed, punching Luke's cheek. Luke turned his head away before continuing to drink the bottle.
Once the milk was gone, Luke yawned and nuzzled into Michael's chest. All of the boys cooed and watched him as his eyes slowly closed.
"Our tiny baby."
