21~Truth
Everest's POV
"Everest, why is she calling you?" Harry asked with slight anger, ripping me out of my thoughts.
With a small sigh, I turn the stove off and put the un-cooked eggs off to the side. I finally turn around to face him, fear and uncertainty lacing through my thoughts. At this point I'm beyond scared and frightened of what's going to happen. Harry wants an explanation, and I'm sick of lying to everyone, especially to him. So what choice do I have? My choices at this point are very limited. There only two simple choices.
A). Lie to him, and have it haunt me for the rest of my days until I tell him.
Or
B). Tell him the truth and hope he'll understand.
The choice is clear.
I have to tell him.
Everything.
"Okay," I sighed, chewing on my lower lip nervously. "I do know her-"
"So you lied to me?" Harry snapped, clearly furious by the way he slammed my phone down on the granite counter.
"Harry! Let me explain!" I snapped back, already starting off as a bad start. This is going to be one showdown if he interrupts me one more time. "Do not interrupt me at all, Harry Styles! Just let me explain first and then you can talk! Okay!?" My breathing quickens, feeling this surge of boldness run through me with a side of anger and frustration. He opened his mouth to retort, then closed it quickly. He simply clenched his jaw and looked away, nodding slowly.
I let out a long sigh, praying silently in my head. 'You can do this, Everest' my mind encourages me. And so I begin:
"Okay." I cleared my throat, trying to calm myself. "Well, the day when you were really drunk and depressed, when we barely even knew each other then, and when Louis asked me to come and talk to you, was the day your tour manager, Paul, called me. He asked me to come by Modest! and discuss with them about the whole, "me helping you" ordeal. Anyways, when I made it there, that's where I met Leah, Simon, and Paul."
"So that's how you know Leah?"
I simply nod. "Yeah."
A small pause descends over us, my eyes studying his expression carefully. His jaw locks then unlocks, and I begin to notice his bright green eyes are shielded behind cold darkened eyes. Like the color he used to possess when he was depressed.
I shake my head and continue, "Simon basically told me that he was slightly bothered that I just appeared in your life unexpectedly. I told them the reason why I just appeared in your life, and they understood, and I thought they trusted me. Until they made me..." I trail off, too scared of how he'll react when I tell him they made me sign a contract practically against my will. But it's not like I wanted to!
"They what, Everest!?" He impatiently asks, his hard cold eyes shifting towards me.
"They made me sign a contract," I rush out, sinking my teeth hard in to my lower lip, trying to think of what his reaction is going to be. I brace myself for the explosion.
"What?" He choked out, his voice so angry and low it causes a shiver to run up my spine.
"Before you explode, let me explain!" I cut him off, watching his hands turn into fists, his knuckles turning white. "Look, they told me if I didn't sign the contract I wouldn't be able to see you again, and I didn't wanna risk losing you. Harry, I had to, okay. I signed it because I wanted to see you again, I wanted to help you. And I'm so glad I did, not the part about being under a contract, but we wouldn't be where we are now if I didn't sign it." I finally finish, feeling the weight being lifted off my shoulders. I walk over to him and grasp his right fist, staring deep into his lost eyes that still haven't met mine. "That's all I have to say about the contract. You can talk now."
