40~Lesson Learned
Everest's POV
I walk down the hall towards my room, recollecting myself and processing everything that just occurred.
After Harry's talk with Simon, he literally flung his phone across the room, which exploded into a dozen pieces and left a small hole in the wall. He then put his fist through it, which made it even bigger. When all that was over, he stormed off to his room, without a word, and slammed his door shut. Then for the next twenty minutes or so, the rest of us just stood in the living room with our heads down, hearing nothing but loud smashes and bangs echoing down the hall, filling in the silence. It's as if a small version of World War lll was happening right in his bedroom.
He's gone completely insane. Crazier than I ever thought he could get.
Although, could you blame him?
Instead of just standing around, we decided to clean up the mess Harry made.
Then a few moments later, all the noises finally stopped.
"Thank God," Zayn breathed out, rubbing his tired eyes.
"Yeah," I sighed.
"Well, I'm about to pass out, so if anyone needs me...," Niall trailed off as he backed into the hall with his thumbs pointing towards his room, disappearing into the darkness.
"Yeah, same," Liam yawned. "'Till morning, everyone."
"'Till morning," the few of us remaining said back simultaneously.
"You two go on to bed," I said to Zayn and Louis, who still held brooms and dustpans in their hands, "I'll finish cleaning."
"You sure?" Zayn asked with care, his tired eyes looking back at mine.
"Yeah, I got it," I reassured him and flashed a half smile. "Get some rest. It's been a long night."
"Thanks, love," Louis said then planted a light kiss on my cheek. I smiled back in response, watching them both trail off into the hall and then hearing the subtle sounds of doors closing.
~
Putting all my thoughts to rest, I continue to make my way towards my room, but halfway down I hear a light voice from behind and stop in my tracks.
"Everest."
"Yeah, Lou?" I whisper back, flashing a small smile.
"Everything will be okay again. I promise," he assures me. "'Till morning."
I smile slightly, questioning his phrase in my head. "'Till morning." And then he shuts his door, the sliver of light from beneath it turning black.
I continue to walk but somehow find myself in front of Harry's bedroom door instead. I stare at it for a while then look down. Nothing but darkness seeping out from the crevice of his door. I let out a heavy breath and knock lightly, slowly twisting the doorknob.
I just want to make sure he's okay.
"Harry," I call out quietly, my voice shaky. Only having the moonlight bleeding through the curtains as my source of light, I make out a dark silhouette hunched over on the side of the bed. I walk in and gently close the door behind me, leaning back against it, so cautious of the ticking-time-bomb sitting on the bed who could explode at any moment.
I sigh, and again call out a faint, "Harry."
Silence then engulfs the room, seeming like it would never end, but Harry finally speaks.
