When you wake up in the morning, do you put on your mask? Do you remind yourself of how to make your friends and families happy? Do you practice your smile, your laugh, your resting face? Do you think about how everything you say will affect everyone around you, putting yourself through extensive measures to keep everyone but yourself happy? Because if that is what everyone is doing every day, then how many of our daily interactions are real? How many real emotions, about things that really matter, do you express to those that care about you?
And what what about when you take off that mask, that is, if you ever do? Does it ever slip off while you are in public, leaving you exposed, waiting to be judged by the world? What about with a specific person? At night, when you are left all alone, to cry yourself to sleep, finally allowed to actually feel? Or do you just not bother taking it off any more, always suppressing your innermost thoughts and emotions?
