After we got out onto the road, the boys seemed to calm down, regaining their previous enthusiasm about the ride. They chattered happily, making sure to include me often, and I appreciated it. I don't get many friends and my family doesn't visit often, so it was definitely niceto hold a conversation for once. I slowed as we reached the nearby town (only an hour away.) The grocery stores here were mostly monster friendly, so that was a plus. As we pulled into the parking lot, I took my helmet off. Papyrus slipped his off with too much ease due to his narrower skull, and Sans had some trouble with his being too tight. "Alright, we need to get you two better helmets while we're out. Let's head on in!" I quickly set the tire lock on my bike and made sure I had my keys. I then set an alarm that would go off if my bike was moved. We headed in, and grabbed our carts. We slowly made our way around, buying half the store on our way. When I noticed them in the craft aisle talking about glitter in food, I was quick to show them the edible decorations section. I made sure to grab some cookbooks as well and secretly slipped them into their carts. That's when the shouting began. We had been heading towards the front with our stuff when there was a cacophony of yells and screams outside. The two looked concerned, glancing around. A brick crashed through the window as the screaming increased. A fucking protest, great. A glance at the signs revealed very aggressive antimonster sentiments. I grumbled as I walked to the back of the store with the skeletons, bringing our carts. We got checked out at the customer service in the rear and the groceries tucked into interdimensional boxes. We began to sneak around towards an exit and rushed for the parking lot. Protestor saw us and quickly turned, trying to attack us. Sans created a barrier as we jammed on our helmets and rushed for the street. We pulled out, and peeled away for wherever we were headed. I was gasping as the duo made sure we weren't followed. Soon enough, we were back on our way home. "Looks like those helmets are gonna have to wait boys. Sorry."
"DO NOT WORRY, HOST HUMAN! WE CAN GET THEM ANOTHER DAY!" I smiled gratefully. I sped up, the bike roaring as we went. When we pulled up, I slowed once more. "Other than the incident, did you two have fun?" I asked, looking to the skeletons. They nodded eagerly. "I CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEXT RIDE! THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!" Papyrus yelled, ecstatic. Sans jumped up. "CAN YOU TEACH US TO RIDE?! THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL!!" I felt a rush of excitement and nodded. "I would love to teach you." They squealed and rushed inside. I shook my head fondly and started towards my home.
(Ugh, this chapter sucks but I needed to put one out. If anyone has scenario recommendations, I'd love to hear them!)
