Coming out

About an hour later, we are standing on my front porch.

" It's not too late to turn around," I say. My hands were shaking and I could feel my heart racing. I wonder if it was this hard when Parker came out.

" No, you can do this. I believe in you. I'm right here, I promise." I take a deep breath and open the door. My mom looks up from the dinner she was cooking.

" Hey, Jackson. Hi Hannah. How's it going?" Hannah looks at me, waiting for me to say something.

" Um... mom I need to tell you something," I say. I sit down at the counter with Hannah next to me. I couldn't contain the tears that started to come out.

" Jackson?" my mom says. I could hear the worry in her voice.

" I'm sorry," I say. I could barely talk, I was sobbing so hard. She comes around and hugs me, rubbing my arms before looking at me.

" Honey, you know that anything you say will never change my love for you. You know that right?" she asks me. I nod and take a deep breath.

" I haven't told you, but I want you to know. I didn't know how to tell you that I-" my throat closes as I try to breathe.

" I think I know what you're gonna tell me," she says.

" You do?"

" Jackson, I'm your mom. You don't think I've noticed that you don't talk about any girls except for Hannah? And even I know that she's your best friend," she says. A new wave of tears washes over me and I hug her again.

" I'm sorry," I say.

" Don't be sorry. It's who you are, and I love you no matter what." I can feel Hannah's hand on my back, comforting me.

" But I do want to meet him, okay?" I nod and she let's go and goes to get some kleenex.

" Are you ready to tell Parker?" Hannah asks. Parker.
