• LAYTON'S POV • NEXT DAY

I'm sitting in the back seat of my dad's Mercedes while we were well on our way over to Chads house. Dad had called the Evans and they happily invited my family over for dinner. That included my little sister. Seeing as my father was the owner of a major business, the Evans had no problem what so ever. Those roaches, I can't believe the way they act just for what? Money? Power? Beats me but they piss me off.

Chad knew I was coming over but he still didn't know the proposal my father had in mind.

And Sarah, of course, was excited to see chad again. She really took a liking to him. Hehe, hope she doesn't get too attached, he is after all into guys. But that's ok, I wouldn't allow her to date chad anyway, he's seven years older than her. Nope, my baby sister needs to find a boy her age, and one that I'll accept. No punks/bad boys, no assholes...

Yeah I should stop there before i start to ramble on. Besides she's only ten. I should stop worrying.

My mom told me i should probably wear something a bit on the formal side because, well i don't know why. But I didn't have anything if the sort. So i just wore a nice pair of bleached blue jeans and a black button up shirt. Not too bad, but not really fancy.

When my father pulled into the drive way of the big house, anxiety suddenly grew in my stomach. Don't ask me why, i had no idea. Maybe it was because i was scared of the answer we would be given.

Setting out the car my mother and father went ahead of my sister and i and knocked on the door. Yeah, large house, but chad only got a small closet to live in. I remember, i came over once to hang out with chad and i can clearly remember how big that room is.

Chads mother, i remember her name, is was Elisabeth, answered the door "oh hello mr. And mrs. Carter, it's a pleasure having over of dinner tonight with your family." She put on a thin fake smile. Ugh, I already wanted to slap her

We all greeted her, me simply with a nod and she ushered us in. "Layton, sweetheart, take your sister and go find chad, leave the adults to talk." My mother smiled sweetly at me. See that's how a mother is suppose to smile. Take notes Elizabeth.

I nodded then took my sisters hand and pulled her up stairs. I know my parents were going to wait for me before they started the discussion. They knew how i had a saying in this also. Chads room is the second one on the right, always has been, and hopefully it won't anymore.

Knocking, i waited a moment and smiled down at my little sister which she returned. Then the door opened and chads head poked though. "Hm? Oh! Layton Sarah, hey." He smiled and opened the door for us.

I chuckled and patted his head before walking. I don't know why I did but my hand just kinda moved on it's own. I went in with Sarah following behind me. When I turned back to face them Sarah face chad a hug, causing me to chuckle again. But I definitely noticed something. Pain flashed on his face before he let her go.

It was only for a second but i couldn't miss it. Dammit i knew he's parents did something. But I can't ask him about it with Sarah here, it would worry her too much. I held back a growl in my throat as i began to speak. "I don't expect you to know, but when do you think dinner will be ready?" I smiled at my friend.

"Soon I would guess." He gladly smiled back. I looked over his tiny room and immediately remember.

"Wow you did keep it in perfect shape. Great job dude." I grinned and picked up my old longboard. I never told chad but this was my first board, I'm glad he took such great care of it.

"Heh yeah, To tell the truth i had no idea where i got that for the longest time so i took care of it. But now i know it was yours. And you know you can take it with you when you leave." I smiled and shook my head, putting the board back in it's spot.
