"Can I get you anything else? A dessert menu perhaps?" The waitress taking her plate asks with a kind smile. The girl with white hair returns the look a bit less convincingly.
"No thank you," she replies.
"If we could just get the check, that would be nice. Thank you." Her father speaks as the waitress gathers up as much as she can from the table.
"Alright, I'll be right back with that." The girl watches as the waitress walks away briskly, balancing their plates on her arms. That's when someone catches her eye. Tall, somewhat gangly, a boy dressed in the black host's outfit leads a couple to their table. He looks kind of bored, she notices, but can't take her eyes away from him. She watches him rattle off the specials for the night and take down drink orders with a black pen.
"Winnie, did you hear me?" her father asks, snapping his fingers in front of her face. She blinks dazedly and turns her focus away from the boy and onto her father, fixing him with a glare.
"What?'
"I was wondering if you were ready to go or if you were planning on staying here all night?" She looks down to find a small collection of bills sitting on the table with the receipt for their dinner. How long had she been staring?
"Yeah, I'm ready." She says briskly, standing up and retrieving her coat. She glances back at the table the boy was serving only to find he is gone. Disappointed, she follows her father out of the restaurant.

So this is my first story and I want to say a few things. basically the chapters are gonna start really short and slowly get longer. My friend (who this chapter is dedicated to) is helping me edit it so everything I post will have been through review and should all make sense... I hope...
