The doorbell rings and I jump. I’ve been ready for a solid half an hour, just pacing in my bedroom, too excited to do just sit down and relax. I scamper down the stairs quickly and am met by Laurel’s squeals.

“You look amazing!” She runs as fast as she can in her heels towards me and wraps me in a big hug.

“I could say the same to you!” I reply, holding her at arm’s length and looking her over.

She’s wearing the silver sheath dress that I told her I thought would be a good choice based on the picture and damn! It hugs her in all the right places, accentuating her curves, and she basically looks like a goddess. She has her normally straight black hair tied back in an intricate bun, with a few loose pieces curled around her face. She’s paired the look with simple black jewellery and flawless smoky eyeshadow. Laurel has always been a beautiful girl but tonight she’s drop-dead gorgeous.

Ashton stands at the door, grinning at us, looking equally dapper in a very nice tux. The suit has hints of grey in it and he has matched it his tie to Laurel’s silver dress. He’s clean-shaven and his normally wavy, out-of-control hair has been tamed and slicked back from his face. Standing beside Laurel, he looks equally as dashing, making them the perfect image of a prom couple.

“Prom again? Don’t you ever get tired of it?” I say to him with a smirk. Ash and Laurel went to his prom last year so this is round 2 for them. He just shrugs.

“Nah, it’s fun.”

We move into my living room to wait for Luke to show up. I bounce my knee anxiously and try to listen to Laurel as she speed-talks about how excited she is. I end up getting lost in thoughts about Luke instead. He wouldn’t let me see what he’s wearing, even though I begged for pictures. It slightly worries me. What if he couldn’t get a suit? On the other hand, maybe he knows he looks fabulous and wants me to get the full effect in person. The doorbell rings again and I jump up off the couch and practically sprint the whole two feet and end up tripping, having to catch myself against the door. I swing it open and Luke is there, looking utterly perfect. We stand there for a minute taking each other in.

His tuxedo makes him look absurdly handsome and he has his hair styled to the nines. His piercing shines in the porch light—just a simple black ring, adding a touch of rebellion to the classy outfit, making him that much hotter. He’s chosen the classic black tux and tie—nothing overly fancy but he still manages to take my breath away. The jacket makes his already-broad shoulders stand out as he stays staring at me, one corner of his mouth tugging upwards into a cheeky smirk. He’s in need of a shave, butt he scruff scattered along his jaw just adds to his attractiveness making my toes curl. He’s easily the most attractive guy I’ve ever had the privilege of going out with in my entire life.

“You look beautiful, Winnie,” he says, still grinning his cheeky smile, his eyes roving over me from head to toe. I return it shyly and Laurel and Ashton join us at the door.

“Shall we?” Ash says, gesturing to the limo waiting outside. We had all agreed to pitch in a little bit of money so we could arrive in style as a group.

“Wait!” My mother comes running, waving a camera in the air. “I need pictures!”
