There's that feeling. The feeling of being alone. I don't live with anyone. My family has kept their distance from me. I'm in a huge house, this is my mom's house. And I sometimes feel like she's still here.

I get up from my bed, and check the time. It's 10pm. I walk out my room and walk around this mansion.

Then, it hits me my mother has rooms that she has kept from me. I walk towards the basement.

I open the door, the basement is in the hallway where my mother's room is. I walk in and start walking down the stairs. I reach the last step and I hear the door bell ring. I ignore it and look around, there's this tiny light bulb and a chain next to it.

It's probably the light switch. I pull it down and the light went on. It's brighter than I thought. The door bell rings again. I ignore.

I walk around. There's just boxes of old clothes, and toys. I turn to the left of me and there's this box, that says, Secret Box.

Clever mother. I jokingly roll my eyes. I take the box and head up the basement stairs, the door bell is rapidly ringing. I put the box on my coffee table in my living room, and answered the door.

It reveals Ethan, Grayson, two adults, and a girl. "Hi." I smile."Hello, is this Maya Matthews?" The man asks kindly. I nod my head. "Hello, Maya, I'm Sean, this is my wife Lisa, you know the twins and my daughter Cameron."

I shoot them a big smile, "It's nice to meet you all." I tell them. "May we come in?" Lisa asks. I nod, and open the door wider so that they can come in.

I bring them into the living room. I totally forgot about that box that it says, Secret Box.

"What's that?" I hear Grayson ask. I turn around and Ethan gives him a nudge than a stare. "Oh, just a box, I found in the basement before you guys got here." I tell them.

"If you don't mind, you don't have to if you don't want to but—" I interrupt Sean by saying, "No, I don't mind at all! Also, I was going to look in it anyways."

"You sure?" Lisa asks very kindly. I nod my head.

I sit on the floor near the coffee table, Ethan sits on the couch behind me, Grayson sits on the couch next to me, Cameron and sitting next to Ethan, Sean and Lisa are sitting next to Grayson.

I let out a deep breath, and open the box not expecting what is in it.

I open it, and the first thing I see and papers. A whole lot of papers.

"What the—" I say as I grab a handfuls of papers. I plop them all on my coffee table.

Grayson kneels next to me, he looks through them. "They look like they are..." "Diary entry's." I finish his sentence. Sean kneels next to me too, he puts on his glasses.

"These, aren't diary entry's, Maya. These are letters to you." He says. I turn to him wide eyed.

"L-letters to me?" I stutter. He nods. I look and grab a random paper.

To My Beloved Daughter:

This is the last time, I'm writing this. I'm going to go in your father's office. I may or may not come out alive.

I am tearing as I'm writing this. Your father, I have feared him for the longest. I hope one day, you find these papers, and read them. You don't have to read them in order, just read them. You may find answers in these papers, but you have to read them carefully.

I have this best friend, his name is Sean Dolan. You have to find him Maya. He will tell you everything. He has two sons, they are twins, a beautiful daughter, and a wonderful mother.

Find them, Maya. Please. And tell them thank you for everything. I love you.

xoxo,
mommy.

I can't believe my eyes. I look up from the letter, I'm crying. "Y-you knew her?" Stutter turning to Sean. He nods his head.

I sit up to the couch, "I-I have no words.." I sound so speechless. How much my mother hide this from me? Well, I was six so it makes sense.

"We took care of you when you were only six, your mother would be in and out because of your father." Lisa tells me. "But—" "Sh. You've dealt with too much." Sean says. "Everything is going to be okay, we all are going to protect you."

I give him a scared look, "P-protect me? W-why?" I am shaking. Grayson puts his hand on my thigh, and suddenly I stopped shaking, he goes to my ear, I feel his warm breath, he whispers, "It's okay. I got you." Shivers go down my back.

Why is he being so nice to me all of a sudden?

"Y-your father... he's still alive and well." Sean tells me, and my eyes go wide. I start shaking, even harder this time. Grayson grips my thigh, I didn't mind it, "Where is he?" I calmed down, now I'm angry.

"In Australia." Sean says. "Lucky." Grayson mutters, taking his hand off my thigh and crossing his arms. I roll my eyes at him.

"We'll talk about this is in the morning, get some sleep." Sean gets up, and everybody does also. When most of them are out, I grab Grayson's arm. "Please stay."

I didn't care anymore, I don't want to be alone.

He looks back and he sees his family waiting in the car, "I-I.." He starts. I let go of his arm. I feel my face getting red, "Oh, I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked." I felt embarrassed.

Why did I even ask that?

I look down to the ground and go on and about to close the door until Grayson's foot goes in-between the door.

I open it fully again, and look up at him. "I'll stay with you." A smile appears on my face.
