The stranger

I suddenly awaken to a buzzing noise in my ear. I turn onto my side to see Sunny sat right in my face. It didn’t shock me as much as it did the other years. I knew she would be there as every year on the 1st day she woke up at 4:30 just to make sure she had everything ready. She would be done within 10minutes so would go on to do my stuff. I didn’t mind as it made me extra prepared for each lesson. She would have also have done mine within 15 minutes, as I wasn’t as organised as Sunny, I hadn’t even unpacked yet.

She would then move on the setting out my school uniform, putting my makeup out, unpacking my case, and her just generally getting dressed and neat. She would be perfect by the time I would normally be waking up. So to surprise me she would sit next to my bed with a mint, she learnt about morning breath by the second year.

I took the mint out of her open palm and placed it in my mouth before speaking. “Hey” I said with tired eyes and a fresh breath. “Guess what. This will be our last first day of Hogwarts ever again.” Sunny giggled a little and then turned away. I could see she was disappointed but I couldn’t do anything. So I just put a hand on her shoulder and sat up to drag myself out of bed. I gave her shoulder a pat and got up. I then went to get ready for another year of classes.

I had my hair in basic perfect curls running down my back. Two curls lead either side of my neck upon my shoulders. I had basic makeup on, simple and smart. Black eye liner and a light lip balm. I was dressed in my school uniform. A white shirt, that had been ironed by my mum before I left, my tie with my house colours on it, a black jumper and black skirt. I then personalised it with black boots, going up to my knee, skin colour tights and a charm bracelet my mother had given to me the 1st year I came to Hogwarts for good luck.

Me and Sunny were ready and dressed before breakfast, so we sat down on my bed and examined our time tables. “I have Care of Magical Creatures 1st with Hagrid” I told Sunny.

“I have Flying with Madam Hooch” by the look on Sunny’s face she was not looking forward to this class. But there was nothing we could do about it. “I will text Ary asking what he has, I don’t want to be alone again.” She spent about 10 minutes waiting for him to reply but when she got a text her face dropped even more. It got worse when she turned to face me. I knew then he was in my class. “I’m sorry” she didn’t really sound it. She sounded as if she had planned it all along. I just nodded and headed to the dining hall.

After breakfast I headed straight back to my room to pick up my bag. I slipped my wand into my boots. I took a deep breath and opened the doors heading out of my room. I flew off into my own little world and before I knew it I was walking into Hagrid. I bowed my head and stepped back into a group of people.

Behind Hagrid stood a Hippogriff. We had learnt about these creatures many times before, so I knew basically everything about them. I wasn’t really paying attention to what he was say when I felt a little tap on my shoulder. I turned round to see Ary stood there. Our eyes met for a second before he began to speak. “Thank god I’m not alone. As soon as Sunny said we were together I was really happy.” He looked away as if to hide his smile, which I had already seen.

Had he forgot about the note? A lot of questions ran through my head. I clearly wasn’t thinking straight. But he wasn’t Loans little shy brother anymore. He was a man. A stranger to me.
