"You don't seem too happy" Angela pointed out "Are you gonna tell me what's going on or do I have to fill your glass with something much harder?"

Kimberly shrugged. Usually, she wasn't one of those who took their frustration out on someone else. She was a very private girl who didn't like to discuss her personal problems with her closest friends, let alone with someone like Angela, who she only knew from work. They both got along pretty well and sometimes would hang out together.

However, she began to think that if it was so obvious that she was upset, maybe it was because she really needed to let it out. Perhaps it was wiser to speak before Angela followed through on her threat and opened a bottle of absinthe. After all, she was already kind of drunk...

"It's just Chris" she explained "He's been so distant lately... Well, distant is not enough! I think he's been avoiding me."

"Why would he do that?"

"I don't know! I've tried to talk to him and see whether everything is ok... but he always says 'It's nothing' and changes the subject."

"Urgh, I hate when they do that!" Angela exclaimed "That's so typical in guys!"

"I know right? And the worst thing about it is that I'm sure it has something to do with me, and I bet he's told everyone except for me."

"Really? What makes you think so?"

"Because he always does!" Kimberly exploded "A couple of months ago, for example, I suggested moving together, and he said yes. But then, when we started planning everything, he was always busy for some mysterious reason and couldn't help me with the moving. Not to mention that he didn't seem too excited with the idea anymore. In the end, I found out through one of his pals that he actually thought it was too early to start living with me!"

"No way!"

"Yes way! But on the other hand, how could he not have more trust in them than in me? He definitely sees them a lot more often!"

"Oh my God! Boys and their pals..." Angela chuckled bitterly "What a classic!"

"Urgh, I know..." Kim rolled her eyes "I tell you – after this relationship, I'm becoming a lesbian! I'm so tired of guys and their stupidity..."

"Alriiiight" the other girl laughed, having a sip of wine "Well, if you need help with that, you can always ask my neighbor."

"Your neighbor?"

"Yeah. I have a dyke next door" Angela pointed with her head "And I think she basically screws anything that breathes. She's nice though. Sometimes we do the shopping together."

When she said that, Angela had no idea to what point it would make a deep impression on Kim. She would have never expected her friend to take her at her word.

Chris and Kimberly broke up about ten days after they had that conversation. And a couple of weeks later, the blonde knocked at the door next to Angela's.

"Hello?"

The lawyer couldn't help but feel a bit surprised at the sight of the woman who opened the door. She had seen her before, but when Angela referred to 'her dyke neighbour', she expected something else. Instead of a tough, masculine woman, what she saw was what she would have defined as a real lady. She had long, raven black hair, flawlessly straightened and taken care of. Unlike common belief about lesbians, she was wearing makeup, and her style of clothing was very feminine – a little bit alternative for Kimberly's taste, but she couldn't deny that she was fashionable. The first impression she got was that the girl liked to be looked at. However, she didn't need to wear such a low-cut red shirt for that; those cat-like eyes were noticeable enough. They were big and intense, a gorgeous, almost unreal shade of green and had long eyelashes.
