Chapter 5. Page 82

MONDAY: DECEMBER 5TH—21 days

I woke up to my alarm blaring in my ear. I turned it off, picking the crust out of my eyes with a yawn. My head pounded as the hangover finally set in. "Good morning, princess," my dad whispered, entering my room with a tray of eggs, bacon, and white rice in hand. "Thanks, dad," I said softly, sitting up with my back against my headboard. My other dad walked in holding some oolong tea, gently placing it on my side table. He dropped two Tylenol tablets on the tray next to the plate. "To cure that headache I reckon you have," he said in a thick country accent. "Thank you, pop," I said with a smile, immediately downing the painkillers and washing them down with some tea. "Did you just get back, dad?" I asked, breaking the egg yolk over my rice with my fork. "Uh huh. Flew in last night," he answered. "Oh," I said with a nod, my voice going up three octaves.

They both sat on my bed, staring at me with wide, awkward smiles across their faces. "What?" I asked before shoveling a spoon full of rice in my mouth. My dads looked at each other, still smiling. "What?" I repeated with a chuckle. "Are you using again?" Pop asked nervously. My eyes widened, "Using? I just got clean!" I exclaimed. My dad elbowed pop, urging him to continue. "We're worried about ya, darlin'," pop finally admitted. I raised an eyebrow, showing my obvious confusion. "I'm fine. I'm just hungover from a few beers. It's not a big deal," I said shrugging my shoulders. They looked at each other once again, communicating with their eyes. My dad finally spoke up, I assume losing the visual argument. "Clean means you're clean of all substances. Even beer," my dad informed. I continued eating my breakfast, trying to ignore them. We all sat in my room in silence as I ate my breakfast. I could feel them burning holes into my head with their eyes. Pop took his hat off, scratching his balding head. "You haven't mentioned your friends much since we got back and we know how close you three are. We're worried," he said leaning over to place a hand on my shoulder.

He was right, but I used to talk to them about my friends all the time, but now I don't. All because Bianca can't see how shady Jay is.

I shook my head, looking down. "We're on the rocks," I admitted, pushing my eggs around on the plate. "Is it, Spliff? You know how we feel about that hooligan," my dad asked, crossing his arms. I rolled my eyes as I shook my head. I didn't bother giving a verbal answer. Pop placed a hand on my cheek, giving me a small smile. "Not that we don't trust you, darlin'. And don't worry about your friends. They'll come around. Whatever it is will pass. You guys have been friends for years," he reassured, playing the role of "positive dad." My other dad scooted closer to me, giving me a hug. "Even if it doesn't pass, you'll be okay. You're Minji. Everyone loves you," dad beamed, letting go after a few minutes. "Thanks, dad. Thanks, pop," I said smiling.

"Instead of doing all this drinking, why don't you try to fix whatever the problem is?" Dad suggested. I nodded, "I'll try." They both smiled as they stood up. "I know what to do now," I added. My dads cleared the dishes before exiting my room, allowing me to get ready. As I prepared for my day, I devised the perfect plan to not only separate Jay from Bianca, but would also cause her to hate him with every fiber of her being. I just needed the right incentive. "Just do what you do best," I told myself, adjusting my boobs.

As soon as I got to school, I went on a hunt trying to to find Jay while avoiding Bianca. I asked around only to find out he was late. Lunch rolled around and I continued my search until I found him in the hallway around the corner from the cafeteria. He was talking to some freshman at their locker as I approached. "We need to talk, Jay," I said determined. "Just a sec," he replied politely. I closed his friend's locker, shooting him a dirty look. The freshman flinched, quickly walking away without saying a word. "I'll cut to the chase. I have you all figured out and I have no problem sharing your dirty little secret with anyone who'll listen, so what you're going to do is anything I say from here on out. Do I make myself clear?" He stood there stunned, looking down at me. He looked as if his entire world had come crashing down.
