Chapter 13. Page 364
Tuesday December 13–13 days
(Minji's Pov)
I opened my eyes, more thankful than ever to have the floodlights from the window burning my corneas. I smiled, sitting up as I stretched. I heard a knock at my door before it opened. "Good mornin' to my beautiful Apple," Pop said enthusiastically. "Good morning, Pops," I replied with a smile. He walked inside my room, breakfast tray in hand. "Where's daddy?" I asked, not hearing any singing from the kitchen. "He went into work early. Something about a document mix up. You eat up and get ready for school. I'll drop you off today," he informed before closing my door.
After breakfast, I got ready, carefully choosing an outfit of the day. Yesterday with Jay—despite the "clone incident" as I like to call it— went well and I wanted things to continue this way. I picked out a white crop top, pairing a plain black dress to go over it. I slipped on my floral, lace black leggings, pairing my favorite combat boots with the dress. I layered a couple belts and slipped on some fishnet sleeves. The final touch was my black, knitted beanie Bianca had gotten me last Christmas. I did my makeup once I was satisfied with my outfit, playing with my hair as I admired my final look. "Perfect," I said to myself, grabbing my backpack. I got a message from Jay saying he was outside already. I smiled, leaving my room.

I greeted my dad down stairs, ready to go. "Is it okay if Jay takes me again?" I asked. Pops paused, raising an eyebrow. "I've been hearing a lot about this 'Jay' and yet I still haven't gotten to know him," Pops informed me. I shook my head. "In due time, daddy," I giggled, kissing him on the cheek. "Love you. See you later," I said before leaving. I waved at Jay as I saw him leaning against his car. He hugged me before opening the passenger side door for me. "Thank you," I said softly, enjoying the treatment. "You look pretty," he said as he got in the driver's side. I smiled, kissing his cheek. He started the car, backing out of my driveway. "How are you feeling?" he asked, driving in the direction of Mikey's house. "Great. I guess it whatever Doc did worked," I replied. He nodded. "That's good. I was worried when I woke up this morning, but I didn't want to wake you at the same time," he chuckled. "What time did you wake up?" I asked. He shrugged. "Maybe six or seven," he answered. I nodded, connecting my phone to his Bluetooth. I played my favorite album by one of my top bands, Kittie. "Hey that ex of yours. Are you sure she's flirting with Bianca to get back at you?" Jay asked. I looked over at him, turning down the song. "What song is this? You played this yesterday, right?" Jay asked. "Yeah. It's called 'Brackish' by this band—Kittie," I answered. "Wow. They don't sound as cute as their name," he said with laughed. I nodded. "They're totally, rad," I said sure of myself. He smiled, turning up the volume.

Mikey hopped in the car, something glass rattling in his backpack. "Morning," he greeted. "Morning," I said back. "Hey, man," Jay said, fist bumping Mikey. Mikey set his backpack on the floor, once again, the glass object rattled inside. "A little early for shots don't ya' think?" I asked as Jay started toward school. Mikey had this guilty look on his face as he stammered out an answer. "N-no shot! Beakers!" He said quickly. I raised an eyebrow, shrugging at his weirdness. A feeling of suspicion began to grow with every minute in the car. The moment we got out, I planted a kiss on Jay's lips. "Hey. Would you mind heading to the cafe and getting me a latte? The chocolate one please," I requested with a smile. Jay nodded, planting a kiss on my forehead. "You got it," he said, heading into the school. "Meet me by your first class!" I called out to him. He stuck up the "okay" sign, signaling that he had heard me. I immediately turned to face Mikey as he was adjusting his backpack, the sound of glass clattering coming from his backpack once again.

I followed him inside, knowing he knew I was tailing him. "Hold it. You're hiding something," I called out, stopping him in his tracks. He turned around to face me, except he avoided eye contact. I raised my eyebrow. "You have that same stupid look on your face....Open the bag," I commanded. Mikey hesitated as he took off his backpack. I signaled for him to continue as he unzipped the bag. He opened it to reveal the very cologne bottle that blinded me the night prior. I instinctively retracted. "Mikey! Why would you bring that here?" I asked, shoving his backpack shut. "Something.. weird happened last night," he began.
