Chapter 9. Page 191

Friday December 9–17 days

I awoke in my chair as Anica pounded on my bedroom door. "Get up! Unlock the door," she called, jiggling the doorknob. "Fuck off! I'm coming," I yelled back. She didn't reply, so I assumed she just walked away. As I stood up, I yawned with a long stretch. A smile grew wider on my face whilst I admired the work I had put into the Mystery Board. "Not bad, Bi," I said to myself. My phone rang, interrupting my moment of self praise. I sighed, scrambling to find it. "This better be good. You're interrupting my genuis," I said after accepting the call. A soft sniff came from the phone. "I need you," Demi whispered. A rush of adrenaline ran through my body. I perked up, fearing the worst. "Where are you?" I asked sternly. "Outside your bedroom door," she cried. I ran to my door, fidgeting with the lock before I threw it open. There stood my best friend in tears. She looked at me with those sad, green eyes. Her tears made her blonde eyelashes practically disappear. I let out a long sigh. She pressed the "end call" button, letting the phone fall to the ground. I caught her as she collapsed into my arms, burrowing her face into my chest. I stroked her hair as she sobbed into my chest. It took a while, but she eventually stopped. I let my arms fall to my sides, stepping back, knowing what was coming next.

Demi is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body—until you make her cry.

She opened her mouth; a tsunami of obscenities flooded out of her mouth. I sat down, waiting for the storm to pass, hugging a nearby stuffed pig. It's not that I was afraid of her. I just wanted something to block anything she might've accidentally thrown my way. "That fucking bastard. The nerve! The audacity!" She screamed, throwing a pillow against the wall. "I've never met such an arrogant, irrational, pig headed individual like him!" I watched at she grabbed my stuffed unicorn, spiking it to the ground. "And to whom are we speaking of?" I interjected; I saw her eye a snow globe on my shelf. I stood up, placing the stuffed pig on the chair. "What happened?" Demi took a deep breath, falling backwards on to my bed. "I had a fight with Ciggy and I basically told him he could stick it anywhere except for in me." I walked over, flopping down next to her. "Walk me through it." I looked at her and she looked at me. "We were just hanging out. It was nice. We talked about his childhood and how his friendship with Jay grew," she began, intertwining her fingers with mine. "Sounds nice," I commented. She made a face that said, "I'm not finished." I chuckled. "Then, he asked about you. 'So, Bianca. What's up with her?' I started to tell him about how we met and stuff, but he cut me off. 'No, I mean "What's up with her? I'm talking about that shit that happened last night. The way she chewed you out in front of everyone." I was like, 'She was just stressed. It was a stressful night.' At this point I'm kinda ticked,"she continued. I raised my eyebrows, knowing where this was going. "So, I asked him straight up: 'What are you trying to say?' He froze." I shook my head. "Damn. He broke the number one rule for boyfriends," I said.

"I reiterated, 'What are you trying to say?' He hit the joint for a really long time before answering. It smart to choose his words wisely, but he didn't. 'I just thought that was pretty bitchy of her. That's all.' Like excuse me? It was bitchy of her, but that does not mean YOU can say it. I was pissed. So, I stood up, opened my mouth, and now I'm over here." Demi laughed a little. I thought about it. It really hung over my head, because I was the one person wouldn't do that. Except I did. "It was bitchy of me. He's right. I'm still really sorry, Di. Ciggy was just looking out for you. You really didn't deserve that," I said remorsefully. She scooted a little closer, pressing the tip of her nose against mine. "You're right. He was looking out for me. But, I forgive you. You really were just stressed. Besides, Minji told me about everything. She called the moment she got in her house. Why didn't you tell me about it?" I sat up, my smile immediately disappearing. "Everything, everything?" I asked. Demi sat up as well, scooching back against the headboard. "Yep. Care to explain?" I scooted back next to her, resting my head on her shoulder. I sighed knowing I had to tell her everything.
