"You're very...pristine, yeah, like a," he paused as he thought, "siren." I crossed my ankles as I made a face.

"A siren, why a siren?" I asked the curly-haired boy with freckles upon his face. I love him.

"Cause you drive people insane," he sighed and leaned down towards his milkshake, "take it from me, I'd be the one to know."

His comment made me smile, a thin layer of blush feathered through the melanin of my skin. A figure then washed over us and sat down our chili cheese fries, "Thank you." I nodded at the bus boy. He smiled at me cutely and leaned down to my ear, giving me a quick kiss on the jaw.

"You're welcome, gorgeous." He ruffled the curly-headed boy's hair and smiled at him, "Hey, Eddie spaghetti."

The boy infringe of me groaned, "I thought I told you to quick calling me that, asshole?" Eddie asked rhetorically. Richie laughed at his best friend as he leaned on our table, his hands supporting his weight.

Richie has a part-time job at the arcade and I'm his ride in the winter time. He just mood and wipes up tables. You see, the arcade was renovated a few summer ago, they added a small dining area towards the back. I asked Eddie to come here because he's still a bit off about being in love with me. I think he saw this as a date more than an outing.

"Don't start, you're both beautiful, ladies." I said as Richie rolled his eyes and took my glass to refill it.

"Not as much as you." Richie commented as he left to go do his job. We watched as he left; we never really knew why he got the job, he just did. Well, actually he said he was saving up for something.

"He's right about that," Eddie spoke suddenly, "if he's not anything, he's right about that." Wow, I've never been on a date. I guess from here on out I— Arrietty Denise Mulligan— will forever say, if asked, that my first date was with this boy— Edward Lewis Kraspbrak.

"There you go." Richie said as he sat my glass down. He even gave me a napkin. I smiled as he left.

"I like your hair." Eddie said a little strained, "it looks nice like that." I straightened my hair last night.

"Thank you, Eds." I said. I rested my hand on top of his and rubbed his knuckles. They'd gotten wider through out the years. I love this boy, I really do.

"How does it feel to know you like someone Richie likes?" We joke about this now. It makes him know I don't pity him.

"Ugh, I never thought this would happen to me, though. I always figured Richie wouldn't ever have a real girlfriend." He said.
